As Darrell Mansfield said in an introduction to 1 of his songs, " rock n roll was here before Elvis and before Jerry Lee Lewis. It started 2000 years ago. When they laid Jesus in his tomb, He rose 3 days later and said to the rock that was blocking His tomb, rock i want you to roll out of my way. The rock has been rolling ever since." Of course he wad just leading up to his song but the rock rolled out of the way and rock n roll was born.

I randomly showed this to my 83 year old dad a few days ago, asked him "do you recognise this song?" Well I think he did recognise it because his eyes lit up as soon as he heard the piano at the beginning, and he said "I haven't heard this song in over 60 years"! Looked like he almost shed a tear at one point. He went on to say how he remembers this playing on the radio when it first came out, and would constantly listen to the radio waiting for this song so he could attempt to copy down the lyrics and then perform the song with his band at the local clubs. He was 17 or 18 years old at the time. That would have been in Abertillery and the surrounding areas in south Wales, UK during the late 50s

It was just the dominant fashion at the time. Clothes mean nothing, really. And, also, this type of music, or "rock and roll" was considered the devil's music that would lead children astray and into deliquency. Remove your rose-colored glasses, pastor, and just enjoy this music of the most popular genre in the world today.

His talent was on par with his love and guidance as my Granpop :) As far as my musical mentoring I received from him, one bit of advice he drilled into me (I'm paraphrasing): When you find that you have started to write a song your passionate about, let your ear guide you but KEEP IT SIMPLE!

@@Conradaxx you were lucky to have such an amazing talent not only as a grandfather, but as a musical mentor!!! That is something that you can carry with you forever, of course you’d have memories either way, but he truly wrote some amazing songs!! He really really did! I’m not at all from the music of that era, but I have to say, I wish I had been. I’m glad I’m able to enjoy it now… what a different time it was… and it certainly seemed like a great one. I’m sure he taught you exceptionally well. And I’m very sorry for your loss. He will never be forgotten. His music will always play…. And people will always remember with a smile. 🙏🎵

"It's Still Rock And Roll To Me" What's the matter with the clothes I'm wearing? "Can't you tell that your tie's too wide?" Maybe I should buy some old tab collars? "Welcome back to the age of jive. Where have you been hidin' out lately, honey? You can't dress trashy till you spend a lot of money." Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound Funny, but it's still rock and roll to me What's the matter with the car I'm driving? "Can't you tell that it's out of style?" Should I get a set of white wall tires? "Are you gonna cruise the miracle mile? Nowadays you can't be too sentimental Your best bet's a true baby blue Continental." Hot funk, cool punk, even if it's old junk It's still rock and roll to me Oh, it doesn't matter what they say in the papers 'Cause it's always been the same old scene. There's a new band in town But you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine... Aimed at your average teen How about a pair of pink sidewinders And a bright orange pair of pants? "You could really be a Beau Brummel baby If you just give it half a chance. Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers, You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers." Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways It's still rock and roll to me What's the matter with the crowd I'm seeing? "Don't you know that they're out of touch?" Should I try to be a straight 'A' student? "If you are then you think too much. Don't you know about the new fashion honey? All you need are looks and a whole lotta money." It's the next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways It's still rock and roll to me Everybody's talkin' 'bout the new sound Funny, but it's still rock and roll to me - Billy Joel

+Edmund Vitale lol, keep sniffing glue - The music of that era was heavily influenced by money & pay to play. Payola hearings of that time testifing before congress, Clark would testify to holding an ownership stake in a total of 33 different record labels, distributors and manufacturers that all profited handsomely from the rise of Clark-anointed stars like Danny and the Juniors and Frankie Avalon.

@@THECARS7879 I was born in 1985 and couldn't agree more. Everything was so much better during that time. The cars, music, women, the economy, mannerism and just life in general. Men were gentlemen and women were ladies. Most individuals had so much class during this time. It was a much more simplistic and overall better time to be alive. I would give anything to be able to live in those times. Today's times are quite depressing and it's only going to get worse, unfortunately.

Haha totally. Probably why they didn't have a long and pronounced career, because this was literally the only sound they could produce. Still think this is a fabulous tune tho.

What about Sometimes? It may have been the B side of one of the others, but it was a slow, different sound. I loved the harmonies.

American bandstand the good old days we could only turn that clock back to the late 50s and 60s it was a fantastic show used to watch it on black and white TV everyday Danny and the Juniors would just an amazing group every song they made was a hit until today I still like that kind of music it's a shame what he did to himself but I'm not going to get into it the show lives on forever I give it five stars you can't forget it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The resilience of rock 'n' roll speaks to its powerful energy, its ability to reflect youth culture, and its deep roots in freedom, rebellion, and expression. It became a movement that didn't just disappear-it adapted, influencing countless other genres along the way, from punk to metal, to pop and beyond. "Rock and Roll Is Here to Stay" isn't just a catchy tune-it's a manifesto of something much larger.

the final scene of Christine with the 1958 Plymouth Fury slowly dying while this song plays in the background is profoundly symbolic and compelling. For a rock 'n' roll fan, it's a moment that ties together nostalgia, destruction, and the end of an era. The song itself, with its defiant declaration that rock 'n' roll isn't just a passing fad, contrasts beautifully with the fate of the 58 Fury, the car that represents so much of the 1950s cultural ideal-youthful rebellion, style, and the vibrant energy of that post-war period. It's all over in a blink of an eye. or a rock 'n' roll fan, watching Christine’s death while hearing that anthem in the background is like the final curtain call on the 50s-a powerful metaphor for how the material icons of the era fade, but the spirit of rock 'n' roll remains alive, pushing forward into the decades that follow. It's a melancholic yet triumphant moment, evoking both loss and the unwavering endurance of the music that continues to define youth culture. One of the most poetic scenes i've ever seen.
