Just bought this and the SF Lights and loving the irony of the SFL being possibly the most compliant and managable Formula car on the service, while the SF23 is a savage beast that will happily kick you to death from the slightest bit of too much throttle or steering application.

My favourite car in iRacing. Its nice to see other people giving it a go.

Honestly, there's been a hole in my heart since GTE got 'retired' - GT3 is great, but I've really been missing the sharp edges of the really fast stuff

I just got back into sim racing for the first time in like 3 years just to drive the super formula and I feel like the car just fits me like a glove. Some things I'd like to add that I've discovered driving the SF in the past few weeks have been : 1) as a former ACC player/porsche main, I found the ideal turn in points in this car to be MUCH later than I naturally do. When I compare my telemetry to the top times, a consistent pattern I'm noticing is that they all turn in later and use more steering than I do. This might help you find a ton of time if your habit is to make V shaped lines. 2) Tire temps are everything. Your braking points will get later and later over after 5-10 laps, sometimes longer if the track is really cold. I find 130-150F is around the sweetspot for maximum grip, and you may go from braking at ~120M like you do in this video on your first lap to at or even past the 100M board when your tires are really up to temp. 3) Already kinda alluded to this in the first point, but you can really abuse the front tires in the fixed race. I haven't tried it in open, but if you're maximizing the front tires it might feel like you're murdering them, but they will last the whole race pretty easily. And from what I'm seeing, the fastest SF drivers are not being gentle on their fronts lol

Awesome race. I enjoyed watching it and the commentary was a different level too. You know your gaps, strength and respected the other contenders.

actually iracing recently added an option for a clutch button with a bite point so you have no more excuses for bad starts (:
@dannyleeracing7 ай бұрын
I saw that, what an excellent addition - however I have no clutch whatsoever (not even a pedal) - would that have done me any good? Definitely looking into it, though...
@buddhapest7 ай бұрын
@@dannyleeracing might be a little difficult in the SF but it works very well for F3 and SFL (without any pedal, you still have to modulate the throttle on the f3 but it isn't as scary)

@@dannyleeracing There's a cheat way to launch the SF23 with no clutch pedal as well. In first gear the car will not move if you have the brake compressed. As the lights go out, lift your brake. Not as fast as the dual clutch method, but safe and decent enough to not lose many positions off the line.

Excellent! This is exactly the kind of video I wanted from you, thanks for not editing anything out. Though if you ever feel like you HAVE to skip something, I'd prefer it if you fast forward instead of jump cut

Biggest strength of super formula for me is the drivers. I always had good fair fights. Its usually the same people and you know you can rely on them not to punt you off. Its like mini league racing within iracing.

I was considering getting a faster formula car since I’ve been stuck with f4 car for a long time and I really can’t decide weather I should get this really quick super formula car or the new super formula light car. What would you suggest? Also loved the video!
@dannyleeracing7 ай бұрын
I think the Super Formula Light is the better choice of the two just because of its more accessible and popular series, but whilst the Light is still mega fast, there's no denying that the Super Formula is far more thrilling (and lethal)

Do you enjoy GT cars after racing in SF? I run F4 and don't like GT cars anymore - too much understeer. That is why I am going the Formula path.

Love this car and love your videos. 😀BTW how much boost did you get in LMP1? In GTPs you can also change deploy mode but its not powerful like in SF. I love GTP and SF, for LMP1 I started simracing too late unfortunately. Though I still got 919 Hybrid and take it for a spin from time to time (but still cant compare it's boost)😀
@dannyleeracing7 ай бұрын
With the LMP1 you can deploy the boost manually using a button, or you can let it do it itself - you regenerate the boost battery through braking and in the 919's case through engine power aswell. It's so much fun to save up 100% battery and then just unleash it all in a 'lap of the gods' scenario, because it's so HUGELY powerful
