I think they are worried that once you start interacting with the fans, your put in a different role. You went from being a neutral party to being to the one side who’s enjoying the show and they may miss something or even be bribed to letting someone onto the stage for a favor. They probably were just concerned that for a fan to Use their phone and upload videos of him at a show of Taylor’s, that the fans or other people in the crowd could ask for more. Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, I’m a ts fan too. But how many of y’all seen Taken? The beginning with the fans rushing the backstage scene? If Liam’s character was caught up in fans recording him and making sure he gets recorded and uploaded even while working, he could potentially inadvertely miss something or worse be harmed hisself. Even heard of biker gangs working security for certain performers. While I acknowledge that they could have been a fan of said artist, they knew the capabilities of awestruck fans and the amount of sheer craziness they are putting themselves on the line for working security for the performer not to get hurt. We also must think back to all the artists and performers who were killed by obsessed fans and think what could have prevented the action from happening in the first place. Guy seems like a cool guy, a huge fan. But that job is one where they likely don’t take kindly to interactions with fans. That’s the performers job, they just keep them safe and keep an undistracted view of the crowd. Again; not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. Just what I’m guessing happened

Calvin decker (the security guard) was employed by the venue in Minneapolis, NOT taylor. The venue prohibits security from taking photos with any performer on stage. Since Calvin passed out little notes to the fans asking to get photos taken of him with Taylor in the back, he was fired by his employer. Once again, not Taylor. Additionally Calvin stated that he holds, “no grudges against my employer.” So we should move on too 😂

Actually I work at a stadium and rule number one is you do not take pictures or interact with the performers and players- let alone post it on social media!! Automatic termination if caught!. Dude was a big fan and knew he couldn’t do anything to remember that night. So he improvised in a respectable, non-chalant way that would not interfere with the Security Company’s goal. The company is in the wrong, not him. Edit: Apparently he was handing out cards so people would know. Imo he could’ve just had one slightly larger one on a collar or something. But I think this is the only way he wouldn’t get caught in the act. Or he could’ve just handed it to one person. But he was obviously eager to do his job, if he is a swift fan, you damn well know he’d make sure she was safe.

Unpopular opinion: Its not just between the guard and the company. The company also has a reputation to uphold if they want more contracts with big name artists. 1) It's against the rules to interact with fans like that AND he only took the job cause he's a fan of Taylor. The company had every right to fire the guard. It was probably part of his employment contract to not interact with fans. Asking fans to take a photo is interacting with them. 2) On the other hand, he never turned around, or caused any problems. Yes there are other jobs, but he did break a major rule and it went viral. 🤷‍♀️ His face is in the photo. So chances are, other security companies are getting this information and know his face now. Probably wouldn't hire him, he broke a major rule of his employment contract. Let one break this rule, more will follow. Let one rule slide, more rules would be pushed. He clearly only took the job to get into the concert free. Plus, he's obviously very distracted, he wouldn't have noticed or seen if anything did start to happen in the crowd. That could've been a safety issue for everyone. But the name of the video is incorrect, Taylor didn't fire him. She has nothing to do with this. The company fired him and they had every reason to fire him. He didn't get his phone out, but he interacted with fans. Again, part of the contract that is a big no. But there are other lines of work in the job. He could probably get hired back or get another job, but won't get a position that close to the performer again. I side with the company. But sure, hire him back, just don't give him a position that's in view of the performer again. He can guard an entry way or a door. Also, the company has a name to uphold. They probably got paid good money to enter a contract to provide security for Taylor. She's too big of a client to "just let it go". It could very easily BE one of her rules. They HAVE to enforce the rules so the company can enter more contracts with big names. The company has a reputation to uphold if they want to enter into contracts with big names again.

If these types of rules didn't exist including possibly not even interacting with the artists unless they interact with you first, no celebrity could safely put on a show or even be able to show up without these rules. I work for Disney and they too are strict on that when it comes to celebs and characters. We are allowed to take photos with celebs only if THEY suggest it or ask for it. (Rare but it happens) But while youre on the clock its a big No No. The security couldve just screenshoted himself on whatever video that was posted online with him after work. He did something wrong. If they let it go it will snowball and one day something will go horribly wrong, making the company liable. It's a standard in security jobs to avoid getting distracted. That's just how it is. We can say it's okay because nothing wrong happened but that might not always be the case at all times. Surely even if he's highly focused someone can still do something like pulling out a weapon near him etc. BUT the difference in that happening while he's having his photo taken by fans "at his request" while singing along or dancing vs while he's doing his job seriously (or at least pretended to) is a MASSIVE LAWSUIT not to Mention the damage to reputation which is probably the most important thing to a security company. Imagine someone actually took out a knife near him and when they reviewed the fan's recording you saw him dancing and singing along while having photos taken at his request. Any LAWYER will eat the company alive.
