It really comes down to preference indeed. Good comparison. To me, recording hdr10 video with the wide angle back camera on the S10 is just too good to give up. It gives a much better scope of the environment.

The software updates to the s10e have made the camera so much better. Especially at night. It's definitely not s21 or iphone 12 level but for the price you can get the s10e at its really good. Gotta remember it's the exact same main camera and ultra wide camera that is on the S10 Plus 5G

Great comparison, for value the 10E is king. I like the cameras as below: Daytime: 10R = smart HDR seems to do better than HDR+ Video: 10R = smart HDR again 1080p steadicam: 10E = 10R not drastically far behind Selfie: 10E = don't like iPhone skintones, give me fuji or canon Ultrawide: 10E, best new feature Portrait mode: 10E = can do other than people Slowmo: 10R = prefer 1080p with smart HDR than 720p Nightime: 10E = more vibrant, less editing, 10R is surprisingly not too far behind, editing might help Video: 10E = 10R too dull, needs grading, not easy Selfie: both not great Ultrawide: 10E Reds: 10R

Overall i think the iPhone did better, as it doesnt overexpose that much, doesnt boost shadows, doesn´t oversharpen (oversharpening looks ugly in videos) has a more natural color representation and has better lowlight exposure. Microphone quality also seems more pleasant to me on the IPhone XR. The only things Samsung does better are the Wide-Angle Cameras and the Portrait Mode for every object. Of course there are some shots the S10e looks better, but most of the times the iPhone seems better to me. Please dont write i´m a fanboy, this is MY true opinion.

Fair review. Personally, I prefer warmer tone and more saturated pics as I don't do post processing most times. They're more pleasing to look at. Perhaps, Samsung could cut down a little on overexposure and improve the low-light shots. There is no reason for them to not be able to do what Google did with Pixel in low light.

I prefer the majority of photos on the XR as look more natural but I think the close up photos of the flowers looked much better on the Samsung and retained more detail (noticed on my note 9 vs XR there is a special flower and pet mode that seem to work well)

In most cases I like the XR better just because of the more natural colors, but I think that's mainly because of the automatic scene detection in the S10E. It boosts the colors way too much.

I do like apple's processing style, samsung needs to tone down the over exposure, let users completely shut down beauty mode. Have a dedicated night mode whilst improving the noise at night and keeping detail like apple does. Hopefully they keep on updating the camera processing! Really appreciate this video :) I’m using XR atm and I’m satisfied but hands down to S10E the video stabilization it’s incredible. Also like your videos because viewers aren’t that salty here unless other tech videos where android and Apple fans just fight each other in the end of the day its about the preference ! I like both platforms and can switch with no issues.

10e for me. The slight over exposure can be easily rectified. Better dynamic range plus that stabilization is just insane. The xr is suoer nice too but taking everything into account, 10e wins it for me

If it's too close to tell I'd say always go for the one with better hardware. Software can be improved through updates but not hardware. And Android devices has the advantage of installing apks to improve on software. You can put Google camera with night sight on a lot of phones now.

Great Video Danny, but have to disagree with your initial comment that sais that the camera will be the differentiating factor. I think that, besides the ultra wide camera , by far the biggest difference between the two is the much, much better screen on the S10e

While I agree with that iPhone users that are buying the XR aren’t complaining about the screen. That’s why I think the hardware is pretty neck and neck. The S10e has more features like wireless PowerShare and a headphone jack. This is just a camera comparison. Not a full comparison.

WGACA the a12 in the XR performs better than the snapdragon, also the XR will get 5 years of support. The screen is perfectly fine, it would have been great if it was 1080p, but it is what it is. Also some people prefer lcd screens, because they are not as harsh on the eyes as oled. Both phones are great and shouldn’t be compared since they run on different OS. Better compare the s10e to the other android phones out there.

This is one of the most popular use cases of a smartphone camera which the average user would find value in knowing. Thanks for this video man! I'm currently choosing between the two. I think this video has definitely pushed me towards the XR. I'm not very tech savvy and I was talking to my friend the other day and she pointed out to me that the cost of my monthly contract now (Samsung A5 2017, 6gb data, unlimited text and call) is MORE than what I could get for either of these brand new phones for 15gb data and unlimited texts and calls!!!!!! In general I think the iPhone wins on colors, (Apple always seems to have a slight edge here), and Samsung wins on detail, dynamic range, and of course the fantastic wide angle lens. Really both of them have phenomenal cameras so it all comes down to personal preference. It would be great to see Apple share some of their apps onto Android, such as a camera with their dedicated settings, and of course their unbeatable messaging app.
