They've messed up Hisui cup so badly. Last time it was fun because it was only Pokémon discovered in Sinnoh or Hisuian Pokémon. It was Lucario, Gastrodon, Bronzong, Frosslass etc. Now they've changed it so it's Pokémon from the legends Arceus Pokédex allowing things like Mantine Wiscash etc turning it into another great league. Big thumbs down to Niantic for that.

Yes it does, all I do now is win one match for the dust and tank the other 4. When go battle week starts im sure I'll go on a 30-0 run now that my elo is so low

I was running Altaria lead, Clefable swap, and Shadow Metagross closer. No one expects the Metagross, and one guy tried to swap Shadow A9 into my Altaria, I promptly swapped to Shadow Metagross and Metagross had a Field Day.

If you're down to lose a ton of leads, Shadow Dnite with Steel Wing/Superpower/Hurricane has been a ton of fun for me as long as you have a tanky backline to catch moves on

I ran this team with Shadow Excadrill at the beginning of the cup and it was awful for me, good job!

Better as a closer. Starting is risky because you’re banking on good alignment. Better to set a team up that will draw out what is good against him so he can close the game out

Tbh, I dont think its the best meta but I also dont think its the worst. I mean its way better then a psycho cup or smth like that. Sure, in a really good specialty cup you have the chance to mostly use spicy pokemon and in this one the meta is for a big part still the steels and fairies from open great league. But there is play for Slurpuff (my fav in this cup), Turtonator, Flygon, G-Weezing, Mawile, Haxorous, Escav. Ok thats basically it then. Its not amazing and to have more choices would be nice. But as I said, Im happy to at least use some of the mons I have saved for GL but never come to use. Ofc I hope there come better cups, cause theres still a lot room for improvement.

I was basically staying at the same elo in this cup and finally just said screw it and I win one for the dust and tank the other 4. This is one of the most boring cups I've played in to date, but the dust does add up quick.

Excadrill is so good in this meta, IMO. Glassy af, but 5 Mud Shots to either charged move? Good safe swap or closer.

I played this team this morning with Hydro & Play Rough. Didn't get anywhere, lost as many as I won just stayed about where I was. Does ice beam make much difference for this particular line up?

I think the ice beam is better in this situation because you’re relying on stunfisk and excadrill to hit steel types. Hydro takes too long to charge

As the comment above says, hydro too slow of a charge and you don't need it since your back line handles steel. Go with ice beam for the quicker charge and double super effective against flygon

My only problem with excadrill is how glassy it is. It can get knocked out in 5-6 counters.

Which is why GFisk and Azumarill are decently bulky and you use excadrill with shields

tried this and the Whims Team today (with Azu lead, cause i dont have haxarus) and it performed way better on lower Elo (~2250). That double ground/steel typing felt ver wierd on this elo (and not too great).

Yeah Exca is very tricky! You need to make your opponent use shields or match Wxca with a win farm-down Mon!

Hit 13-2 (or 12-3, can't remember) with Dedenne lead, Skarmory and Azu (Hydro). Only really struggles on Regi+Gfisk teams but can be won if played well

These teams y’all put out only work when you get favorable counters. Tried it for 2 sets and went 1-4 both. This happens every season, they let me go up to 2200-2350 just to bring me back down
