Have you had a chance to ride the new Danse Macabre yet? Let us know your thoughts down below! And if you haven't had a chance to go yet, what are you most excited for? Unfortunately, we were never able to experience the classic Spookslot that we have heard so many wonderful things about so we won't recognize the nods to it in the new ride, but we would love to hear all about that as well!

so sad that Spookalot is gone but i hope Danse Macabre will become a modern gem for years to come. Itamin's new innovation is going to change the Theme park Business forever.

The path you see here 7:57 is the old Heksenpad, ( the witches' path, ) this used to be a walking path that used to end at the Spookslot, unfortunately you can no longer come here due to the realization of Dance Macabre. but if you watch the walk-through video of the Spookslot attraction on the Efteling KZbin channel, you can still see this path and it was always a nice, quiet place to walk.

The creepy aesthetic of the queue area really gears you up for the actual ride itself. They did a great job on this

This is the story told in the cemetery. "Greetings, brave mortal, 6:27 Here in the ancient Huyver forest you find yourself among the sleeping ruins of the Abbey of Capelle van Kaatsheuvel. Long, long ago, on Friday the 13th of the year 1876, disappeared here during an international music competition the full orchestra of the idiosyncratic conductor Joseph Charlatan. After a masterful performance of the musical piece Danse Macabre, the musicians were ruthlessly engulfed by the Unnameable. Evil, which still haunts this area today and manifests itself as a monstrous, cat-like creature. The Unnameable has sealed the fate of the musicians. Cursed and damned forever, the conductor and his orchestra will play the Danse Macabre in the abbey chapel until the end of time. Be on your guard, mortals. And above all, avoid any contact with a seemingly cute black kitten. The Unnameable is everywhere. And nothing here is what it seems!"

By the way, I don't understand why Efteling has chosen to only tell the story in Dutch, especially because other recent expansions have opted for an English translation in one form or another.
@zangertonАй бұрын
Because it is in Holland. In Germany is everything in German. IN France is it in Frrnch. If you want a translation you can by the book in your own language@@Lawrencevbeek
@LawrencevbeekАй бұрын
@@zangertonI'm Dutch so that's not the problem, but it only surprised me because it has been done at other attractions in recent years. And so far the book is only available in Dutch.
@Gisela_aka_giesАй бұрын
Well i kinda like it 2 be honest. I feel like we live in a world where we have access to information within seconds. Go on the internet if you wanna know the story. Whilst people are waiting they could've looked up the story online in that time. Everybody is on their phone all day every day and not looking this up seems weird to me, but ok. I am happy it is in dutch and only dutch. BUT thank you for the translation, it will help a lot of people
@LawrencevbeekАй бұрын
@@Gisela_aka_giesThank you for appreciating the translation. The Efteling is an international destination where the idea is that you forget the real world around you for a moment, so forget your cell phone and enjoy everything you hear and see in the beautiful park. That's why I think it is possible to tell the story of Dance Macabre in two languages in a way that is not annoying so that everyone has an equal experience.

I love that smell too! Such a classic spooky theme park smell. Also I went on Danse Macabre earlier in the month and it is a top tier attraction. It's so Efteling and I love Efteling.

The idea of this ride system with this music is that you get the feeling that you are dancing on the music. That's what the designer said. The conductor that you see in the show is made from a sketch that the designer of the Spookslot ( Ton van de Ven ) made but never got to use in the Spookslot in 1978. He wanted to but the budget was not high enough and and that time they couldn't do what they can do now ofcourse. This designer took that sketch and used it for Danse Macabre. Former designer and creative director Ton van de Ven sketched a ghostly conductor as a possible later addition for the exciting attraction Spookslot (1978). A creepy ghost with a long beard, in a robe with fluttering sleeves, holding a baton in his right hand, a so-called conductor's baton. Inspiration Designer Jeroen Verheij used this sketch as inspiration for the conductor in the new Efteling attraction Danse Macabre. “With the melody of the Danse Macabre as a common thread, it quickly became clear to me that the conductor had to play a prominent role in the new attraction. I am convinced that with the realization of Ton's sketch we will pay a wonderful tribute to the Spookslot and its designer.” And the moving pictures are actually of a famous Dutch operah singer and the piano player is the Designer of Danse Macabre. And there is a drop. At the end you go up and it gets dark. The lighting comes and you drop down. That's the drop.

Ya'll have some great coaster content! Glad to see this super cool attraction in action.

Thank you so much! We really appreciate that! We really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back and see how it continues to evolve going forward!

That black kitten is actually the shapeshifting monster that killed the orchestra. That is why the stuffed cat head is a monster on the other side, because that cat is the monster.
@mefeather12 күн бұрын
Not sure if all is as is. But one thing to consider is that before entering the only thing that makes you can't go is your size. So, no age limit. Which, if there would be a dead drop in a basement then I think that an age limit would be more appropriate. It's clearly a family ride. So they go dark but not insanely so.
@gwennlammens1198Ай бұрын
I visited yesterday! Experienced the Dance Macabre twice. Yes it is still a prototype. They're also still finetuning the rotating program. Right now you can't see everything from every seat like the cat peeking out of the instruments or the "basement catacombs" with the coffin. The waterfountain in the que has a jumpscare that you missed as it spays water in your face if come to close. Also, if you stroke the instruments on the pictures behind the broken glass, you hear the instrument play.

Oh how fun! Hope you enjoyed it as well! We love that there is something a little different to see with every car and each positioning. Very smart ride design as it keeps you wanting to ride again! And we will have to check for those jump scares and sneaky bits next time! I had a feeling we were missing some goodies!
@gwennlammens1198Ай бұрын
@@coasterchroniclesofficial Yess! Makes you want to ride it again and again to try all the bench numbers. I did 5 and then 2. I enjoyed the second ride way more than the first, because I could see so much more 🤗
@SamLaarhovenАй бұрын
I think the rumours about dropping into the basement came from the passholder previews when the ride was apparently not finshed yet, but i think they just changed the position of some animatronics. We're definitely not going to drop into the basement though, since the ride physically isn't capable of doing that because of the hydraulic system the disk is standing would have to lower in its enirety (i think)
@coasterchroniclesofficialАй бұрын
That makes total sense! Hard to really get a sense of where you are in the building on the ride. We definitely caught some lower level stuff the first time, but saw higher level set pieces on the second ride through! Very excited to see it continue to evolve and also to catch more with each ride.

27:44 You can pull this stuffed animal inside out and the head of the sweet little kitten Florian turns into the monstrous head of the Unnameable.

As a subsribtion holder. I cannot wait until the attraction is not seen as "the new attraction" but as one of the amazing attractions of efteling. Being there for a day and riding danse macabre multiple times seems like paradise.

We are passholders as well so we TOTALLY understand that! I’m sure it will calm down relatively soon - especially since it has such high guest capacity on the ride. And it was great! Definitely a lovely way to spend the day and we can’t wait to get back on it!

DANCE macabre is the follow up of " het spookslot" ( for more then 40 years in the efteling. The story tells about an orchestre that disapeard in 1876 during a contest where the played dance macabre ( dance of the dead) it is a existing piece of music by a french composer. THE BLACK CAT is the haunted spirit who wants you to die, but when you survive the dance, you may leave again

Love that!! We are so sad we never got to experience spookslot but we did thoroughly enjoy the new ride. Efteling always does such a great job and you can feel how detailed the storytelling is even just through their attention to detail. Thank you for this! 🙏🏼

@th01m3nnАй бұрын
They can increase the length and the way the system moves. They probably will in the future. This is a prototype after all
@Spiritwonder420Ай бұрын
they most likely increase it a bit later the same kinda happened when Symbolica did open.they just want to get more people trough the ride when it just opens
@coasterchroniclesofficialАй бұрын
We didn’t think it felt shockingly short, but we could definitely be immersed a little longer because we were enjoying ourselves so much! Will be interesting to see if it becomes longer once fully completed and if there are different programs to the ride!
