You will love the Empire Gudgeons they grow pretty slow but live for a long time and are one of the hardiest and best community fish, they are very smart to, if they know you want to catch them they can hide and camouflage them selves witch makes them almost imposable to catch if you have a bit of decor in your tank, they are very common in creeks here in Australia where I live, when it comes to fish traps they are easy to catch as they love their food, they live in tidal areas to so they can handle a bit of salt, hard to keep fry alive though unless you have a really old established tank or in a pond.

Another fantastic unboxing. My notes, angel fish also provide a slime coat their babies eat and Foo the flower horn has an excellent series on a planted tank with those croaking gourami in it. You can actually hear them. They have babies and it’s mesmerizing to watch.

How many of those Rainbow fish that you got will live comfortably in a 75 gallon tank with a couple Cory Cats and a Dojo Loach? I've been watching you for weeks because my husband and I want to do a fish room living room. Dim lights. Tanks all around with dark cherry wood frames. 2 large ones. 200 and 400 gallons on 2 walls. 75, 90, or 125 stacked in frames on the other 2 walls. Whatever fits and looks the best. Small micro tanks to fill in odd spaces. Plus....who can live without a tiny tank somewhere? Lol The tank I'm currently working on is the first one. It's a 75 gallon Rainbow Tank. I came across some Bosemani Rainbow Fish about 7 years ago now and have been excited about them ever since. So many colors and yet so docile. I've got 1 Bosemani left and was in Pets Mart. Saw some Rainbow Fish that weren't him but, I couldn't help it. I can't remember their name but they've got some blue on the edges of the fins right now and I bought all 5 they had. They looked so healthy. Then I told the kid he had the wrong size on the Plecostomus' they had and he looked at me shocked, as usual lol My husband for sure will want another Arowana and I know for certain that my daughter and I will be putting in a giant Guarami. So playful! How can one resist?! Besides them, I expect a cichlid tank, and Angel Fish tank, a shrimp tank, and I have always wanted a Neon Tetra tank. Imagine it! 90 gallons of Blue/red Neons with Hatchet type fish at the top, glass fish under the Neons, and Kuhli Loaches at the bottom! Uh! I dream! I dream! Anyway, that's what we are doing. It's going to take some time but, I know we can do it and it's gonna look great and feel even greater to sit inside of it! But, to do this, I need a good relationship with a fish seller. So, how do I search just your listing on Get Gills? I like that I can see your fish. That's so cool! So... how do I begin? Ps.... We both have kept Fish since we are children like yourself. Biggest tank we have had is 180. It was amazing although, this time, I'd like to do a tank that large with community fish!

Researching these guys, as I find their simplicity and everything else about them, attractive. You mention 'courting' in the group. Are you satisfied that you have both sexes?
@DansFish6 жыл бұрын
I THINK I have both sexes. I'm almost positive I have one (yep, only 1) confirmed female. She is a lot more yellow than the others and does not have the extended anal fin, dorsal fin, or as much blue on the face. That being said, these are young yet and Apistos are notorious for having sneaker males. But, I'm pretty sure that one is a female. The thing is that a lot of suppliers want to retain a monopoly on certain fish which are good money makers, so they only sell one sex. That seems to be the case with these guys. That is why I am working so hard to establish a pure strain of Santa Maria endlers in the USA. Right now, only males are imported.
@CaylorsReptilesAquatics6 жыл бұрын
I've read this theory, and a couple others, on these guys @@DansFish That they are able to reproduce, regardless of their origin, is all that would be of concern to me. Hey Dan, what are the signs/evidence of worms you saw on the archer fish? Or any fish?

The archerfish are prone to camallanus redworm. They are easy to see as the worms hang from the anus in a bunch. Luckily, it is very east yo treat with Levamisole. They almost always come in with the worms, so I treat them with 2 rounds of Levamisole before I sell them. 1/4 teaspoon per 100 gallons of water is the dose when using the product in this link: www.amazon.com/Agrilabs-Prohibit-Soluble-Drench-Powder/dp/B011ONQVJ0/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1GF1QRMBP50NG&keywords=levamisole&qid=1558285944&s=gateway&sprefix=levamisole%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-1

Where do you get the Empire Gudgeons from? They live native to Australia and apparently not many people have been successful raising the fry to adult sizes because they require brackish water and the micro organisms in it. I caught a 6inch inch one a month ago in my local river but it still has its winter non breeding colours. Will look awesome if it's male ill make a video. Do you have established wild populations or breeders over there? google results tell me they havent raised fry in aquaria before but that means the ones in your bag are from Australia or they have established a wild colony over there?

@@MrWackozacko I don't know about Australia, but the word "poached" has an illegal connotation in the USA. So I would not say they are poached. My best guess is that they are collected in Papua. @@MrWackozacko I'm assuming that is where they are collected from. However, I don't think that means they will be rare.
