It's always hard to predict DMGP because the live performances changes everything. Saba is the one to beat and I would totally be down for a Tattoo/Dune-like staging. I'm also curious to see what Chu Chu will be like live, there's a lot of staging potential here.

As a Dane, I can tell you that they definitely aren’t trying, in my opinion. They don’t want to risk winning again, because people are still bitching about how over budget they were when last we held it in 2014, and how much of a shitshow that was financially. If I had any doubts whether they were trying to win, I had my answer in 2021 when they wouldn’t let Ben & Tan (the winners of 2020 which was then cancelled) participate again, even though they had a really great song (“Iron Heart”), which certainly had more winning potential than the one that ended up winning (I DO love Fyr & Flamme for the record, and their song, but it never stood a chance of winning, Danish isn’t really a pleasant language to listen to). I guess they didn’t want to risk it, so now we only send generic, bland, inoffensive, boring songs, and then we bitch and whine when they get cut.

Saba sand would qualify, I think, the best one to me.

When I think about Denmark ESC, what I remember are Olsen brothers and that blond girl, both of which won ESC. No other stuck in my mind.

hey Marcin, i did a video for Justyna. but the full list had over 100 artists in it, and there was no official shortlist. also by the time i thought of doing a review of the main 10 ones, the announcement date was remoured for mid Feb, so i didnt have time. Ill do a review of the selected song on Feb 19th

I'm not saying it's great, but Mirrorball gives me Cher + Anna Bergendahl and it's grown on me a lot. I'd go with that or Roseelu. But 1st half of SF 2 is mostly women, so idk.... Any of their songs qualifying will probably send the wrong message. They need a big shake up to their selection process.

It's likely to be the NF I will end up watching because my associations with it are still very positive (2010-2014, which is when I started following Eurovision quite intensely). Having said that, it's tragic how far DMGP has fallen in the last decade. Ten years ago this NF was as good as Melfest, but now it's a plus-sized Late Late Eurosong Special in terms of song quality and even production values lately. Also, I think Tim Schou's surname is pronounced Tim "Skow" and not Tim "Shoe". 😉

Explanation of sign here - it’s about when you introverted, and need to move to the Big city, and need to start a career. And what there is stigning is many - basically every thing you need to sign in a adult life. (Ex. Then you buy a house and signing a record contract) I’m a dane BTW

German here I had the same reaction as you to Planetary Hearts. Why do you make a song, that's so "different" and interesting and edgy in the beginning and then the first chorus drops and suddenly the song sounds like any other? Such a shame. Still the 2nd best song in the final after The Chase imo.

I know im late to the comments section as Denmark have since chosen their winner (and im happy with it as it was the best of a very vanilla bunch), but i have to admit, there have been a few national selection shows that ive not really been interested in. I didnt care for Latvia's selection, nor did i care for Croatia's, Luxembourg's, and probably the one i truly didnt care for......THIS selection for Denmark. It was literally the epitome of "how many shades of vanilla can we cram in to a final". The only stand out to me was Saba so im happy that she won, but i have to admit, its been growing on me over the past week. This weekend has been a busy weekend in terms of Eurovision so i hope you manage to get some rest!

Just in time, Tom! I listened to these a couple of weeks ago and tbh I don't really remember a lot about these. Can't really care which one wins tbh. Must say I find the lyrics to Basim's song kinda uncomfortably literal. People seem to like Saba most and I get why, it's OK.

As a Dane who is passionate about Eurovision, I'm so annoyed that we keep on bringing such weak songs. My 10 year-old son loves Eurovision, too, and I really wish we could be proud of the Danish entries. 🥴

As a Dane 🇩🇰, I must commend you for being able to slog through this sea of tedious mediocrity. It’s more than most of us are able to. I have more or less given up on our national finals and only watch the international Eurovision now, because the quality is just so much better there. I promise you we do actually have very talented musicians in Denmark, but sadly none of them will touch Melodi Grand Prix with a ten-foot pole. Credible, established musicians simply don’t participate, it seems, because in Danmark, for reasons I cannot explain (perhaps mismanagement by Danmarks Radio, who knows) Melodi Grand Prix is seen as sort of kitsch/lame and in poor taste, and it’s kind of an embarassing thing to admit to liking and having an interest in it. I hope DR will realise at some point that they can’t keep half-assing it like this, and start to actually make an effort again. I won’t hold my breath though. But thank you for trying to keep a positive spirit about it ❤️ Love your videos.

This is one of the weakest national selections this year along with Germany 🇩🇪 , Portugul 🇵🇹, and Moldova 🇲🇩. Just my opinion...but so far from listening to the songs at work on repeat, there's very very few that stand out of all those national selections combined.

I can see why you think Portugal is weak, but I personally think it's a gold mine of fado-esque music. It's not the best for winning Eurovision, but it won my heart.
