Man Lazlow is such a legend. What a great interview. Rockstar was always so under the radar with their developers, but Lazlow’s work with the radio on those PS2 GTA games is truly etched into my brain. I was 12 years old when GTA 3 came out and I can’t even put into words how formative those PS2 GTA games were on my taste in games, in music, in movies, in comedy, etc. Especially the radio stations.

The story and gameplay are great, its the countless unskippable loading scenes at each corner which made me lose interest in that game. Watching Max slowly walk over to push 2 buttons and go up an extremely slow elevator after every shootout, when there are time based challenges in the game, that becomes tedious very quick. And the scoreboards were hacked instantly to the point of the scores being so big that it crashed some game-modes making them unplayable till this day and R* did nothing about it.

I lived in the northeast of Massachusetts at the time, and i remember going to my local Gamestop (one of 3 in the same town, preorders were a nightmare) and i remember the line went around the parking lot. lol forreal, we miss out on good stories. Gotta learn when to make a quick comment versus derailing the conversation with something useless and not on topic.

Dude, thank you for this. I was one of those kids who drove round and listened to the radio station. Lazlow was definitely an influence to every man of my generation when they were teenager. Can't wait to see how his new company works out.

Dan is probably the best person to interview this guy. You NEED to have him back on!

Dan Soder making that point of world's coliding is how I am feeling right now with this upload of a podcast!! I love Dan; his standup is great, but I've never taken time to check out his podcast work or what not. I have too many. But now? I had no idea Dan was into games, but the fact he got LAZLOW on here??? My friends and I use to just sit and listen to the old radio talk shows that Lazlow was on in GTA laughing all night. I still have a nostalgic comfort hearing Lazlow's voice on the radio. It's so silly but real This is my two world's colliding now; incredible! Definitely gained HUGE amounts of respect for Soder here Thanks dude

It's surprisingly good for a movie game but I don't think it's criminally underrated.

@@VGScreens definitely crazy underrated. Nobody ever brings it up when talking about great games.

@@micahwest2793 it has a 7.9 user rating, the consensus was that it was better than expected when released, it often gets a mentioned when people are asking for random Fallout style game ideas. That's not underrated, that's exactly a fair rating, I enjoyed it, so did many others, nobody is keeping that a secret. It's not making a top ten games of all times list, it's a perfect example of a correctly rated game. If you think it belongs in a top ten of all time list then sure it would be underrated in that context, but you'd also be wrong.

Max Payne 3 was one of the best third person shooters of the PS360 era. It might still be one of the best in general. The consoles it launched on held it back with the unskippable cutscenes though, I remember that really hurting the opinion on the game. Resident Evil 4 actually started the adaptive difficulty where dying enough will weaken enemies or give you more ammo/healing items.

It took Lazlow 50 minutes to finish his story about the suicide letter.

I remember being in Miami when Vice city came out and seeing the yellow car in front of the versage mansion (it’s always there) in the game. My mind was blown.
