Good luck Dan. Have watched your vidz in the past and they have been thorough and very informative and for me valuable. Have seen your new website, looks top notch. Yes the road ahead in these times is bumpy, but don't lose sight of your goal.

I'm excited for the new videos. I live in the US and started my business 2yrs ago. We do residential Electrical work for mostly new construction. We are trying to do more work with customers and older homes. Anyway, loved the video. Thanks for posting.

@Dan - Dowload the free version of 'HTTPS Checker' and run it against your web site. You have a few minor issues with images that are http but should be https, and you need to implement "strict-transport security". For me the latter meant adding Header set Strict-Transport-Security "max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains; preload" env=HTTPS to my .htaccess file but your I.T. chap can tailor it for your web host. Once 'HHTP Checker is showing no errors you should have a padlock next to your URL in a browser instead of the 'Not Secue' you see in Edge, Chrome etc. Finally, check your web site at hstspreload.org and make any changes needed to add it to Chrome's HSTS preload list.

Cheers man. The experience is important mate. If you can, reach out to local sparks or larger companies and offer your services even if it is for free occasionally. The experience is just as important if not more than the qualifications. Glad to hear you are excited.

@@DanstheEngineer Thanks. As a collector of fire alarms I have developed a knowledge of how they work and one thing that still puzzles me is why do commercial properties have better fire detection than domestic systems?
@DanstheEngineer4 жыл бұрын
@@GraingerElectrical what is your favourite system? Hmmm well the domestic systems do the job as the fire strategy is pretty simple one out all out. Although more technical systems are becoming available on the market.
@GraingerElectrical4 жыл бұрын
@@DanstheEngineer favourite system is probably the Kentec Syncro with Apollo XP95 and Discovery devices.

Great video, really good info, thank you 👍 found your channel accidentally, probably will be binge watching your videos for a while 😉 I am second year fire and security apprentice. Going through career change in my 30s 😁 Eventually I would like to open business similar to yours. Any advice how could I get involved with fire risk assessments? What course would you recommend to start? And how to actually get practical experience?

Why fire and not EV?
@DanstheEngineer4 жыл бұрын
Because Fire is statutory. EV isn't. No doubt I'll dabble in EV but the market is already saturated. My background is largely fire and I really enjoy it.
@brad304 жыл бұрын
@@DanstheEngineer There are more electrical contractors installing fire alarms and the like then EV chargers, don't you think? The EV charge point demand is increasing rapidly and it's only just started to gain traction. It's not statutory no, but will soon become an necessity. The most important thing is that you enjoy it though 👍
@DanstheEngineer4 жыл бұрын
I was installing EV charge points from the beginning and there was good money back then. Nowadays every sparks seems to do it and not to regulations or with any common sense mate. Which is a shame because they have potential to be very flippin dangerous. I won't rule out EV but OLEV is a joke, some of the manufacturers are unethical and I like to work on systems that are specialist as it becomes my niche to demand the money that went into my training, investment, etc rather than something that everyone seems to be doing. I maintain there is better money in fire and yes mate I guess we all enjoy different things hey.
@brad304 жыл бұрын
@@DanstheEngineer I know what you mean and it seems like a race to the bottom however, I just price on my worth and stick to it. Maybe, in the future they will be even more demand rectifying all the crap installs ha! I agree with you about OLEV and the sooner it's gone the better. What do you mean about some manufacturers being unethical? Good luck anyway with your new business and please keep us posted on how it goes 👊
