You are awesome. I'm a single woman who keeps her on yard groomed. I don't have extra funds to keep bringing my lawnmower in for common maintenance issues such as this one. Thanks for being so clear and direct with your instructions. This was a major help, as I sat down and watched your video step by to guide me through the repairing of my lawnmower. Keep em' coming. Thank you so much, this video is number one in my book, it helped me a great deal and saved me a ton of money, I almost gave up on my mower because of the blade adopter was completely worn off. This GREAT video made it easy and simple for me, I replaced the belt with a new adopter. Truly appreciate you, Sir. Thank you for sharing your great knowledge.

excellent, excellent, teaching video. I appreciate your taking the time to show the ALL the adjustments and work in real time, as opposed to fast forwarding through your adjustments. As a DYI "student", I appreciate being able to stop the video, look at the position of your hands, tools, and parts to properly understand the technique required to do the job correctly. As a side note, I was extremely impressed that you did all the repairs and still maintained a perfectly white t-shirt. Bravo!. Thanks again for sharing. You are an excellent instructor.

Thanks, Dan. Watched your excellent video about replacing the drive belt and thought, “I could do that!” My 190cc Troy-Bilt Instep just hasn’t been pulling its own weight lately. But then I checked the owner’s manual and saw that there’s second hole to attach the throttle cable after “reasonable wear”, so I tried that (no tools necessary), and it worked: she’s running like new! I’ll be doing the drive belt in a few more years.

Thanks for the vid. I had to use a different technique to remove the pulley. It was not easy. i banged as hard as i could for about an hour, constantly swapping sides but was getting nowhere. I didn't have a puller so i welded a nut to the end of the pulley and i ran a bolt down inside the pulley to push against the broken bolt as my blade had sheared off! I oiled the bolt that i used to push down against the shaft. Once the bolt was nice and tight creating some pushing force then i started to hammer again. After alternating 2 or 3 retightening sessions and hammering sessions the bolt started to tighten down more which was just the pulley coming off. I had tried heat with a propane torch, WD and lots of hammering. The home made puller jig was what finally worked for me. To extract the broken bolt i took a largish nut then drilled it out and ground it thinner so i stood a better chance of mig welding down through the nut and onto the broken bolt. I also built up a bit of weld onto the broken bolt before holding the nut in place, this brought the surface to be welded to up closer to the nut. Finally the broken bolt came out very easily.

Great video. Love my snapper. A lot less plastic. Drive hub is one solid piece no nipples or anything that will ever wear out like those 2 nipples. Blade bends engage squarely with it. Hardened steel much beefier. Spray those wheel bearings after every mow and you’ll never have a problem. Never buy the can of WD40 buy the gallon and get a spray bottle. Works awesome and way more economical. Thanks for posting.

thank you for the excellent instruction; I looked at a bunch of other videos trying to find one that included the rear wheel drive mower, like the TB360, but none showed how to replace the belt on this model. I tried to replace the belt but I could not figure out how to get into the transmission housing to release the belt because I overlooked that bolt in the discharge chute that was filled with grass cuttings. (My tb360 is an eager mower, but it is not especially durable if you hit a piece of wood or a stone by accident. I have replaced the blade pulley adapter and the support twice already. The gas tank is very cheap and the cap will not stay on, even a new one. I am not paying $50 for a new one. The muffler has also vibrated off and I lost a bolt and the remaining bolt broke off in the hole, plus the plate that has the bolts securing it to the deck has cracked off in one area.) Again, thank you!

Whenever you tilt a lawnmower on its side, you always want to lift the side of the mower that has the carburetor. That would be where the air filter is in case you can’t see the carburetor.

So this was very helpful, I got the pulley changed, lot easier than I expected. Now it doesn’t “self propel” seems like there’s too much play in the belt. But it’s on the pulleys, any ideas?
@DansVlog3 жыл бұрын
When you engage the lever at the handle the cable should pull the transmission backwards which will cause the belt to go from loose to tight there by engaging the self propulsion. Make sure the cable is hooked up to the transmission and is actually pulling the transmission backwards. Also, make sure the belt is on the pulley on the transmission as well as the pulley on the crankshaft of the engine

Very good information. Thank you very much. So now that I’ve done all that I find that the mower stays in Drive before engaging the transmission. I’m guessing the belt may be a little bit too tight. Hopefully it will slack it up in the near future in the mower will not pull away from me even when it’s not engaged. Any insight into something like that?
@DansVlog5 жыл бұрын
Ya you either routed the belt wrong or it is the wrong belt
@DansVlog5 жыл бұрын
Maybe you routed the little spring wrong and it is pulling the transmission tight instead of loose
@jaysnider225 жыл бұрын
Found out the hard way that if you do not put everything back together including all the shrouds then the belt will not be routed correctly. I tested it first without reinstalling the shroud underneath the deck and that kept the belt from being properly tensioned because there are little studs in the shroud that draw the belt closer together so that it operates correctly. If I had put them in back together before testing it there would have been no problem.

Nice video Dan. Quick question. I have an 860. It's similar to the 360 in a lot of ways, but the transmission and drive belt configuration are pretty different. Do you have any experience with that model? I'm trying to diagnose a self-propel failure. I can see that the belt is good, the rear wheel gears and teeth are good, the cable is good, but I can't figure out how to test the transmission. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@DansVlog6 жыл бұрын
Based on everything you just told me, you already tested the transmission by it being the last item to check with everything else being good! If the belt is good the gears are good good and the cable is good and it’s connected and it’s pulling the belt tight then it would have to be the inner gearing of the transmission that let go
@cleditor6 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. I wasn't sure if I was missing something. Have you done any videos on removing the transmission? It seems like a lot of components need to be disassembled first to get it out.
