@KimPopGaming By virtue of being in direct opposition to each other, they consider each other enemies. Dante has never sought to kill Vergil like other demons, but he knows that killing him would be best, and nearly every time they fight, it's to the death. Dante takes it up personally to finally end his brother, since he believes he's the only one who really can, and he temporarily does so in DMC 1. Dante still harbors some love for his brother (and Vergil debatably does as well), and they both certainly respect the other's strengths, but they are concrete enemies. The fact that they are constantly matched is what makes them rivals, as they have lost and won fights over the course of their rivalry.
