@@ceasarspartacus It's still okay but 6 doesn't really hit as much as it used to. It's better to get in there faster now. On a brawler it's awesome still since they naturally move the parsecs

@@ceasarspartacus 6 Armor does you hardly anything good even more in late game. Many weapons have tons of armor penetration, so they don't give a shit about your armor. Same goes for 2 armor penetration, hardly worth it in my opinion, at least if you go for heavier weapons. At weapon skill 5-7 many weapons have 15-30 armor pen, more then enough for most enemies.

You can get the cat without Animal whisper by offering it a cigarette.

Rethink that decision on quirks, look at them before you tell people to avoid it because there are some good ones like serial killer.

Was about to comment that, some these quirks can be really god and the pay off isn’t that bad, especially if it’s a draw back like getting less health per level up but your character is a sniper that’s going to hang back a lot

Sounds fun but imagine u build ya charakter and then u wonder bout quirks.. a warning pops up u press (Ps4) X to quit the popup thats also use that button to chose a quirk.. But it does not let u chose (no quirk) and u have to use one on that one char u invest to much time with overthinking n shit. XD no major bug

Warning to new players: DO NOT SKIP QUIRKS. They are the most important aspect of your character. You design your entire build around them. Yes, they all have a glaring weakness, but some come with come with an absolutely broken upside. Example: Serial Killer - You lose one AP permanently. You gain +3 AP when you kill an enemy, limit once per turn. That means as long as you can chain a kill every turn, that means you have a net gain of +2 action points.

While I would recommend quirks. I wouldn't recommend it for new players of the series, since you can easily fuck over your builds if you don't know what your doing. For instance the psychopath quirk. Useless with weapons with high ap use like snipers or heavy weapons but absolutely deadly with low ap ones (such as revolvers and melee based weapons). Especially the brawl or submachine gun since for the fury of blows perk and with the power fist you essentially get 3 more attacks for it. Submachine gun, or rifle but I find it better for submachine gun. Can get the perk trigger happy Wich is the same as psychopath but without the negatives affects. So you can have this hit and run play style build. I'm not discouraging quirks. If you want to be a clown then be a clown. Just understand the basics of the game before hand.

@@toxicandsalty1696 I respect what you're saying here, though I disagree. The way Wasteland 3 is designed, you can correct any fuck ups using party management. For that reason, I would encourage new players to experiment like hell. If you fuck up your build, just delete the character and recreate it. There's a minor XP loss when you do this, but you keep your current level. This allows you to try things. I've heard and read complaints about how there's no respecs in Wasteland. Sure there is. Just delete and recreate.

The leader maxing luck with the Quirk of Prospector is essential for the leader. The money makes the entire game easier.

@@Persequimur_Umbras I'm not a huge fan of Prospector because I think Antiques Appraiser (rank 7 Barter Perk) is far more profitable. I typically create a Barter mule with this perk to make my money. Though I have used Prosptor and it's definitely a cash machine.

@Kyle_Fanning, they do not compliment each other? That perk is just a tad out of reach currently, for my playthrough. Restarted a few times just from figuring out things like getting the radiation-proof upgrade for my carrier. Previous playthrough failed to have the wealth to pay for it but the current missions soft-required it because of passing through rad areas like the oil pumps near the old Monster Army barracks. With getting the gold bars from prospector & leveling bartering, money is much less of a problem… that is even with keeping the gold until the currency is needed, to max the bartering boost

i just noticed if you bench your low level scouts at the HQ, then pick them back up, they get a level bump to your average. also, dont waste points on armor/weapon mods skills because of this. make a weapon/armor scout and keep him on bench. go to HQ when you want to mod. *edit* and.. you covered this :) awesome video man, i learned a crap ton

I love this game, my one nitpick is the whole recruitment thing at ranger citadel that lets you create whole new rangers and swap them in and out. In wasteland 2, I'm meticulously created my squad and they felt like mine, I felt responsible for them and by the end they felt like a real team. In this game, it goes out of its way to tell you at the beginning that only two of you survived the convoy, but oh by the way we have an unlimited number of recruits for you. For me it completely broke the immersion.

Unless you absolutely want more than two narrative characters in the party, it is best 2 max the number of custom characters that is of want by you. The companions are simply too broad in their skills & their stats are drastically unbalanced typically to the detriment to the party.

Another thing to note is, that your inventory space is WAY bigger than you think, don't be afraid of hoarding. Also, If an enemy doesn't light up when you want to move your vehicle over them, you cannot hit them, they'll just move out of the way, Liberty Buchanan is like this. Also... Make sure your characters all have level enough First Aid to have both its first and second perk, 6 weird science, 4 strength at least, and enough mechanics to gain the first perk in its tree. This will allow you to buff PCs when healing, the weird science and strength allow you to use the chemtek armor which can buff AP for a few turns, and mechanics to dish more damage to robots and vehicles as well as the weird science allows you to deal bonus energy and other elemental damage. Also, SMG's are very good and heavy machine guns are amazing when you get the level 15 rifle mid-game. I kept it till late game and it SLAPPED motherfuckers around like a drunk dad beating his good-for-nothing son, it is SOOO good. The party I have is SUPER beefy and each one is highly lethal in combat and with skill checks at late game. Also DO NOT GO FOR MELEE CHARACTERS THEY SUCK ASS ON HARDER DIFFICULTIES! Anyways, if you do play with assualt characters, remeber to have an SMG + SHotgun guy as you'll find you will have just too little AP to use your SMG but just enough to use the shotgun. ALso you can blow cover away with the shot gun and pump the enemy with searing lead from the SMG. Also make sure to have one with the diciple of metal trait and grind for the fire mod and slap it on your Heavy MG, that shit is pure dopamine fuel! Or even the explodimanaic and putting the explosive mod on, that shit is litterally like the explosive minigun from fallout 4, and HOLY shit it is still broken!

Hey Dantic...I started my playthrough with a sniper and decided to try a brawler, despite the warning from a few sources saying that they start off weak...He's a small sized guy, shaved head, burly and strong, and so far he's unkillable, and at about 7th level, he beats the crap out of everything. Last battle he got hit by a weird science shrink grenade, making his already small frame super-tiny. It was hilarious watching him zooming across the room beating down enemies with impunity. Definitely my favorite character.

Tip #1 choose character background boost after spending skill points. Otherwise the background boost applies first to the cheaper skill levels. This applies to item boosts, take them off before leveling or it'll charge you for the boosted levels price and not your base level.

currently at lvl 8 i have a max str melee character with a unique 2 hander (toothpick thing) and still barely hurts stuff. sniper is def the best, but cant shoot twice until later. major tomcat is super strong, def start off with whisperer 1, dont think u can go back later to get him.

Your sniper either can shoot twice early on, or will never be able to without consumables (11 AP is the max without quirks). If you get death wish as a perk (+3AP cannot wear armor) then you can shoot sniper 2 times with only 6 coordination, for that reason basically every dps sniper build follows that route. Moreover you don't need awareness that much only for the dmg, but high int matters far more to be maxed first. I cannot even start how wrong was the video maker on both sniper and melee character in many aspects, like +6 armor for -0,4 combat speed? +6 armor doesn't mean shit just in the first few hours (and you build your character for much more) -0,4 combat speed means 4 point in speed which worth 4 level up, that is the biggest disadvantage amongst all the quirks.

To get Major Tom you either need 1 point in animal whisperer or save the girl being held hostage by the Dorsey with 1 point in Hard Ass. She will tell you that offering cigarettes can get you Major Tom in the party plus the girl will follow you to ranger HQ!

I’m not sure if there’s a limit but I keep making new custom characters at the hq with a heavy gun or a sniper and you get free ammo. I take off their guns and remove and delete them. :D

Wait, I’ve heard starting with the pre-made characters is better as they start with special trinkets and you can just give them to characters you create later. Also, that would actually qualify as something you wished you knew before playing, as the difference between pre-made and custom characters is known from the start.

Leadership is definitely useful. People really overlook it a lot In these videos.when your playing on higher difficulties. The boost to hit is huge. I make my leadership guy role with small arms shotgun/revolver. He's also heals and buffs the group or debuffs the enemy. When you demoloralize a boss and let your sneaky shit sniper or explosive expert wail on him with 300% more damage. You'll begin to notice. If not try and do it when they're low on health and have the leader take him out. The buff it provides the group is huge and you can do loads of damage as a collective

Handguns are weak early game and very good late game. If you max luck and then balance awarness, speed, and coordination, you can do so much each turn. Handguns have short range and low AP cost, so speed allows you to move into range and still have plenty of AP for attacks. With max luck you will often crit and more importantly get free attacks. With the perk that gives you free attacks after reloading your handgun guy can easily attack 3-6 times per round. If you use a revolver with low ammo capacity you will proc the reload perk more often. There is also a weapon mod that reduces the capacity by -1 but decreases AP cost to reload. This means you will reload even more, this pricing the perk more and also save AP. It's super strong.

played on the release, it was good but the weapon/perks/skills balance was horrendous. Restarted playing again one week ago and damn, its sweet with the majority of cons fixed. Fun fun game.

Also don't set starting weapon with Assault Rifle ... as you will be out of ammo in the first battle .... and won't drop the specific ammo your starting Assault Rifle need until way later in the game 😑😑😣 If you ask me Sniper Rifle is the best starting weapon for damage and ammo wise 🤔

You won't get a single ammo for your sniper rifle early on the game, so that is basically not true. It is still the scarcest ammo in mid game, besides revolver ammo.

If you save the first girl you run into she gives you a pack of smokes. If you wave them at the cat after your major dies he will follow you so you dont need the animal perk right off rip.

I'd say intelligence is more of a secondary/tertiary stat for most characters, 1 is totally fine for the early game - you can build it up at later levels when you max out your relevant first/second stats.

I know this video is over 2 years old, and besides from a couple of things i'd Strongly argue against, even if it's meant for a Newbie, shits still vital. But my main pet peeve is telling people to get Animal Whisperer...That's not a main stat, that's a Dump stat, as in, you put points there when you got nothing else to build up on. Also, you do not even need animal whisperer to get Major TomCat, Jodie gives you Cigarettes' so that you can lure him down, had him since the Tutorial, not a single point spent on it. Also, i would again, heavily argue against putting points into animal whisperer, reason for this is because, if a Non Squad Companion gets the kill, you don't get the EXP. Also, picking the increased Penetration, Completely useless for a Sniper, they have enough Penetration on their own, and if they don't, Luck will give you total of 6 eitherway, not that that matters much considering ammo altering mods will next to always give you Penetration +99. Yes i know this is for Starters, but it will Very quickly become pointless and you'll hate yourself for wasting your pick on something so meaningless.

This game is a masterpiece I should say haven't finished it yet strange how when boss fight started then you press load button the whole fight end and boss surrender I was like man wtf ? Strangest shiet I ever seen

The game is fun and all, but far from a masterpiece. The loading screens are ridiculous. I clocked one in at 62 seconds. Then there is the issue of constantly saving just in case the game freezes on you. I have also come across an annoying glitch where if i am looting, and change highlighted characters, and then finish looting, the Focal point of the camera stays on the lootable. And then there is the issue where randomly, the camera with toggle onto another selectable character or object, and then toggle back to you as though it just remembered to stay put. Also have a CONSTANT issue with inventory management where if i go to select a piece of gear on a character and scroll up on that mini menu instead of down, the cursor goes into limbo and you need to switch tabs to bring it back. Had only one occurance that died on the stairs and the game would not let me revive them (had to finish that skirmish VERY fast). The last few were more so annoying than deal breakers, but it has made me cut gaming sessions short when they occur.

In the tutorial you can get the cat Major Tom by just saving Jodi Bell and having 1 point in first aid to heal her and then she'll give you cigs to lure the cat. No need to waste a point early on for Animal Whisperer

you can only have 4 up to player made rangers, the other two must be recruited in the world, so you wont miss story beats even if you wanted

I've just finished the game, I know most of the comments are from 2 years ago but for anyone who reads this, I made a sniper that was good with lockpicks and an assault rifle guy (main guy) with leadership and mechanics. I really recommend having mechanics and lockpick as they are used a lot in games to fix stuff and open doors.
