I like the colors, soft, not so intense , soothing even. Your line artwork is always wonderfully creative and interesting as is your process. Thank you for omitting distracting music. For me, the sounds of the process, the tools and materials adds so much more interest, but music at the end was nice!

Thank you very much! Yes I think the demos benefit from having no music and I hope they are simple enough to follow. You can learn a lot from a close up sequence without words.

Hi Dan. I was waiting for when you use a roller to spread the ink. Much more even than with the knife. I really like the marks that can be made by this technique. The use of aluminium foil instead of the flimsy plastic sheets is great. Thanks for the idea.

Yes the block printing ink is much easier to spread evenly with a roller. Glad you enjoyed the demo.

So wonderful Dan - you are a treasure! Looking forward to the list of materials especially the type/weight of paper you’re using as it didn’t seem to warp with the water.

Interesting combination of materials and approach. I like the texture the ink created on the page to give it depth. You have wonderfully masculine hands!

No but I have kept it, you can draw over it with charcoal or use it in collage, I try not to throw anything away.

A very informative video. Sorry if this is a bad question, I have never worked with block printing ink, can you use black acrylic paint intead?
@DanTirels
@DanTirels 4 ай бұрын
Yes you can but it does dry fast so you need to experiment. Always use the thicker acrylic paint sometimes called heavy body.

WHY DID YOU APPLY PAINT TO THE TRAY AND FROM THE TRAY ONTO THE ALUMINUM FOIL, WHY NOT DIRECTLY ONTO THE FOIL?
@DanTirels
@DanTirels 2 жыл бұрын
This is block printing ink which is very different to paint, it needs to be worked into a smooth surface so it is suitable for printing.
