they keep saying life is hard, but this is the most romantic life i have seen in a while. I bet the ones who go to the city still remember the full moon, the galloping horses, the boats, the reeds, and the singing grandmas.

My great-grandmother canned and pickled vegetables for her entire life. Even after she got a fridge in the 1940s she never stopped canning. She also made apple butter and jams. I've never eaten anything better than fat meat and greens with her canned veggies, beans and plenty of southern porch brewed sweet tea. Good God, I wish i could go back 30 years.

These people live there for thousands of years. The life is hard especially in the winter but the Danube is supporting them. Their life is directly connected with nature. They eat simple and delicious food but they must work hard to get it. It is amazing to see how they live but not many of us (city people), will be able to live there. Other than that I love this video and I have a good warm, peaceful feeling about it. And I feel the need to say, Thank You.

This life style looks amazing on TV (phone might add) but living on a day-to-day basis I know is not easy. I grew up in a very a small village in Mexico where your breakfast, lunch and dinner came from the land you worked, my great grandfather raised me and thought me all i know about the land, he passed away when I was 17 (he was 106). Life is very generous, but sometimes it will remind you of how much we need God and nature's mercy just to be able to live another day!

Just watching this today, semi-quarantined at home - felt so simple, humble, honest with no signs of the self-induced stress we city folks have. I don't for one second believe it is NOT hard work in their farms/shops/rivers/lakes but they seem so self-assured and contended with their lifestyle. Thanks for this lovely documentary, much appreciated!

@@sandorlukacs5618 Let me guess. The local fishermen are fiercly territorial, and if you want in on their business, you'll have to kill them. Literally. They'll visit you with a shot-gun if you mess about their waters. Yeah, I've done this myself where I come from, in North Norway. Local farmers take really good care of their cloudberries up there, but if they see a foreigner picking their berries, you can be sure it's shot-gun time, nevermind the laws. I mean, who are you going to run to? It's miles and miles from everything! I was with a friend down in the lakes in Sweden. They catch crayfish, which is also really valuable down there. The farmers are really territorial about the lake areas they own, and if they catch foreigners poaching, there's hell to pay. There has been attempts at poaching crayfish, mostly by Germans, for some reason, but when I asked the locals about it, they just laughed and told me that "The lake is deep"...
