Danube Near Gabčíkovo, SK I Discovering Remote Riverine Forests

We continued our tradition of getting up early and left the house even before dawn. Before starting the hike, we stopped at several places along the way, such as Hrušovská zdrž and Gabčíkovo. When we finally started our journey through the Danube forests, it was already light. The weather could have been a bit colder for January. We set off through the muddy terrain past the dried-up river tributaries dug by wild boars, there were all kinds of animal tracks around. A few times a bird flashed past us. The terrain, with views of the river and here and there an atypical tree made the relatively monotonous forest more exciting. Across the Danube, in Hungary, we saw that logging was quite intensive there. Our forest didn't look exactly wild either, but it was less sterile to look at. Anyways, we can imagine that it is much more beautiful here in the summer :-) With all the anticipated greenery.

Terrain: forest roads, again muddy enough - you need to wear suitable shoes unless it the weather is drier
