I have a question... I have an idea of an application and I want to partner up with a big company. I want them to take care of the workers of my company, the marketing and any other additional costs. So basically, I have absolutely no budget to start the app but I want to own 50% of the company “the app” without putting my own money in it. I want to own it since I created it and I want to run the operations. Will 50% for the other party will be ideal?

Hey Dan, if I change the world one day. It's because of the principles you are comfortable with and I saw. I also had experience in project management of big teams when i was young. I think that's why i resonate with a lot of what you talk about. Went from 0 to 25 employees in 45 days in my company and now we're going for profitability. AI projects are being worked on in my company now. I never imagined. Until I realized the power of value and people. And it was all a summer project

Abdul Kikhia don't say "If"... you have. Don't discount your impact on the people around you. It's a bi-product of going for your dreams. Your inspiring others just by your actions. It can - and is - that simple. DM

Hey Dan, Getting involved in a new start up boutique health club. What are the top 3 advises you have for me as an employee negotiating equity? Thanks in advance.

1. Ask for the Cap Table 2. Setup a vesting schedule 3. Trust the people you're going into business with. That's about it.

Thank you for the great video, really valuable information I have a question, My co-founder and I have a startup that is bootstrapping and we didn't generated any revenue yet, But we now have a full functional platform (web app and mobile app) that we have spent more than a year and half building and validating and managing the team and creating inbound content to attract users (we are a double sided platform so we work to get users before starting to talk to clients), It costed us a lot of time, effort and money to build and validate it, We now in a big need for a salesman partner and we don't have any money to hire someone, If we want to have him as a partner what the equity should we give to him if the company valuation say 10m$ and his salary in market say 40,000$/year?

If he can actually sell and you've done all the heavy lifting then I think 10% max would be a good place to start, and give him a percentage of sales... maybe $50K base + 10% of sales.

I think it's o.k. in the early days to build a prototype or MVP... but eventually needs to be brought in house if you want to scale the business. DM

Dan Martell Got it, thanks! I’d guess the transition or handover from the contracted team to your own group would be tricky and a little emotional at times. And it’d be tough to draw the contractors over to your company.
