I have a wider range with my 11-40 rear cassette and triple chainring 42-32-20. However, for trail riding your setup would be great. I ride long steep logging roads and paved roads to get home. As always, no one setup works perfectly for all rides. Thanks for the info on this particular setup. Very useful for us all.

where did you find a 20t chainring? is it 64bcd?
@williammorris441915 күн бұрын
I agree. from 2015 thru 2019 I raced mtb xc on a hardtail with a 3 x 10speed with a custom 26/32/40 chainring setup and it was great! In 46 races, the front derailleur only failed ONCE. The modified but very wide range helped me win quite a few races.

I have NEVER used the 11 and 13T sprocket on the trail or road to trail segments. I wish they'd stop putting them on cassettes for Mtn bikes.
@johnsuarez14042 жыл бұрын
That's a problem with your chainring, not your cassette. You need a smaller chainring.
@johnsuarez14042 жыл бұрын
@jon dough then you don't understand chainrings. 11t should always be the smallest cog. The chainring determines what the max gear ratio is.
@johnsuarez14042 жыл бұрын
@jon dough you could argue that that's a better design, but that's not how cassettes are made. The standard for the smallest cog is 11 teeth. Ergo, op needs a smaller chainring.
@danieljonsson8095 Жыл бұрын
It's a casette.... YOU decide what gears you want. If you want your smallest to be 20T, simply put a 20T as your smallest. It's a casette, not a freewheel. You're only limited by your derailleur's ability to switch the chain between the sizes. Other than that it's all up to you.

i have a 9 speed 11 to 50 goldix cassette, it has a slightly smoother shift pattern than the ztto one in one of the cogs but besides that is the same and its pretty fuckin great especially for the price, i dont like 1x though, too much friction and finnickyness and not enough range using this with a 3x atm and ive become addicted to the low low low gearing im yet to find a hill so steep i cant climb it even when im towing a trailer and pannier bags short cranks and oval chainrings make steep hills eeeeven easier ive got plans to build what might be a world record for gear range drivetrain in the future when ive got the money gonna run a 11 to 52 13 speed with 22 32 42 chainrings gonna have more gears than i know what to do with lol
