Hey, the jet boil style set I use in this video is pretty good, but I prefer my regular pot set and separate stove because it's generally smaller and I can use it on the bigger stoves in huts that have them

So with the road a 4wd is needed or would a car get up there on a fine day

Hey mate, there's one part in particular where the road is steep and the gravel is soft and deep. I made it up in a regular car but had to get a good run up to make it past this section. So yeah you should be sweet on a fine day, just be prepared to reverse back if you need a faster run up.

I've been up there twice in a Ford Focus and it made it ok. Like Lost Kiwi said, there's one steep bit and I did end up helping some people stuck in it in a Mondeo. I had second gear and plenty of revs and kept off the bank on the left and made it with enough confidence that I could make it again. Every time I've been, there have been regular cars in the carparks. You'll be fine.

Did you fish the river? Looking for a hut I could do a tramp and fish

I don't fish but the tukituki river is pretty good for trout and I saw a few in the pools about a month ago
