In 1949, I was just 5 yrs old when my parents brought me to Jose Rizal's Shrine in Dapitan Zamboanga del Norte. I saw the old ruins of his house, and the dilapidated swimming pool he built. It was like a forest. Now it's been renovated and beautified for history sake and as tourist attraction beside the sea. I still have the a photo in the background of the old Landmark while my mom looked on while that photo was taken. M momwas a teacher at the Estaca provincial High School where she taught and my father was the first Provincial Veterinarian. Before the province was divided, Dipolog as the capital of Zambo Del Norte and Pagadian as the Capital of Zambo Del Sur. It was my first outing with parents coming home from Arayat Pampanga where I lived with my dad's sister and while my mom porsued her studies at UST in Manila I returned to them when my father was still the provincial Vet and soon transferred to Pagadian Zambo Sur as the first Provincial Veterinarian there. The Governor that time was Gov. Serapio Datoc.
