I waited in a line at womad festival about 4 years ago to meet Charles. Eventually my turn came. He was sat on the other side of a small table with 3 of his band mates just signing things people were putting in front of them. I walked over and locked into eye contact with him. As I arrived in front of him we shook each other’s hands. He took his other hand and put it over the hand shake whilst we both were engaged in a mutual stare. His presence was pretty over welming. I stood and enjoyed that Moment for bout 20 seconds. Nothing else, just each other’s presence. After standing in silence Charles simply said “I know, man”. I walked away with a tear in my eye. I knew I’d met a genuine star, not of the fame, but of the cosmos.

how can you truly love if you have not endured pain. threw sufferance the content of your heart shall be weighed examined and prayerfully not found wanting for it it's more honorable to be in a world of lament then a pool of sin and a house of laughter and folly.

i first found out about charles bradley when he voiced the singing devil in an episode of American Dad for christ sake! lol i was blown away by his voice, obviously, but when i read about his journey to fame i became obsessed. only three months after i was put on to this man’s music... he ended up passing away. i felt like i was totally late to the party and had missed out on the whole CB wave. then I remembered that the world didn’t really find out about him until his debut album dropped when he was 62. the world missed out on the Charles Bradley wave, we only got to catch a glimpse RIP

When i heard my girlfriend at the time tell me she was pregnant i quit everything right then on the spot. With all my new free time and energy to release I found music again at 27 and it feels so good. But sometimes i think "ehh maybe i missed my shot" then i find some hidden magic like charles bradley and this comment and know if i want it bad enough im sure i can make it happen( not talking about being famous. I just want to leave a album behind before im gone)

When you finally find an artist with amazing talent, can't get a song out of your head and look him up to see if he's coming to to tour in your city and find out he passed away 3 years ago. Rip Charles Bradley. Beautiful music man.
