Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Dara Douglas, C'2003, is a proud alumna of Spelman College. While at Spelman, she was active in costuming for multiple drama productions as well as coronation, homecoming and spring formal productions.
Douglas joined Ralph Lauren in 2013, passionate about contributing to the fashion industry in a strategic and thoughtful way as manager of Inspirational Content at the Ralph Lauren Library. Her tenacity and innovative spirit led to her being promoted to director of Inspirational Content. She currently serves as product and design lead, Design with Intent, at the Company.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and the increase in social justice demonstrations and demands for the acknowledgment of systemic racism in America, Douglas and her colleague James Jeter took that moment to put a unique spin on fashion and history. Debuting in Spring 2022, the first ever collaboration between a premier American fashion designer, Ralph Lauren, and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), Spelman College and Morehouse College placed the lens of fashion on some of our nation’s most treasured institutions.
