When I saw this on the blue coat repertoire I flipped! This is so good, thank you!

WOW! Excellent stuff, and a worthy musical successor to Real Enemies. Like that earlier album, it uses a vocabulary of modern extended harmony, uses it with soul, and swings. That's not easy to accomplish. I also particularly like the way it integrates overdriven, effects-heavy rock guitar into a jazz-orchestra context - and makes it not only work, but sound completely natural.

Ayyyy is it just me or does the beginning remind you of the Blue Devils 2023 rendition of an “incident in jazz”? Even if it does, I know for a fact the Blue Coats are going to sweep the competition with this banger. Congrats to the Blue Coats for finding this masterpiece, and I hope that you all get the attention you seriously deserve. BLOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Are there any saxes other than the soloist!!?? As a bass clarinet and clarinet player that loves jazz and loves to play jazz this was amazing!! And just amazing in general but yk
@darcyjamesargue2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! To answer your question, the piece starts with all woodwind doubles in the Winds except for Carl Maraghi (Wind 5), who of course plays bari throughout. Later on, Dave Pietro (Wind 1) switches to alto sax, Rob Wilkerson (Wind 2) switches to soprano and alto saxes, and Sam Sadigursky (Wind 3) switches to tenor sax. John Ellis (Wind 4) plays bass clarinet throughout.

Dymaxion sounds completely different compared to the Live at Littlefield (2011) record. Fantastic progress!
@nielspeterborgennielsen138611 ай бұрын
"Dymaxion" is actually the name of Buckminster Fullers icosahedron projected world map with less distortion of all world maps. 🤓 Exciting different big band music anyway.

Why so many edits? That's not how musicians in an ensemble should be filmed. Too distracting.

Enough with Bluecoats. They used about 15 seconds of it. Truly.
