a professor I know once explained this in about 10 seconds, now I know I needed an extra 5 minutes and 24 seconds to really understand it.. Thank you for making this simple to understand

Thanks for the break down, Phil. Doing research into Darcy's Law for a Brewmaster project. I'm not a science-talkin' guy, but that surely helped.

This is actually very helpful, I understand the concept better now than when my professor quickly explained it.

Thanks a ton. So much more well explained than my study material :)

The illustration is so brilliant. Very informativne! Like how you define on example of GRAUNDWATER FLOW and PERMEABILITY because it is NOT similar but is important to undersanding Darcy's Law in civil engineering. Also in few minutes you give important formula and what is HYDRAULIC GRADIENT in this case. Groundwater is simply illustrated from area of high water levels to area of low water levels - we say that groundwater flows from areas of low hydraulic head to areas of low Hydraulic gradient. It is therefore the HYDRAULIC GRADIENT which graundwater flow but if is tottaly float there would not be groundwater flow. I can conclude that you did master design fit in few minutes! As such, it is a good example of PERMEABILITY as well ~ ability to control speed og groundwater flow. It is the ability of a rock or sediment to transmit fluid and form of Darcy's low in planty hydroprojecting as well as for achiving new research.

Well I personally think that it's actually related to groundwater flow and permeability. I'm a geology student currently studying Hydrogeology and so far I really see the connection between Darcy's law and Groundwater exploration . It's so cool to see it you link it up with your field too.😀

Thank you, Phil. Now it makes sense.

shouldn't be K the hydraulic conductivity and not the permeability?

just one doubt, what's the role of soil in it? will the behaviour be the same if there is no soil in between and just an open pipe?

Thank you! Much smoother explaination than that by my proffesors.

the effects of gravity, where are they in the formula?

If the fluid runs through an open canal, does this mean the value for k is one? thanks

Hi! Thank you for this explanation, it was great. Do you know any reading material where I could further my knowledge of Darcy´s Law?

I highly recommend Hubbert's 1957 paper. It provides a thorough analysis through field theory, and even derives Darcy's Law from Navier-Stokes, shedding light on its limitations and assumptions from a non-empirical perspective. I've never looked at Darcy's Law the same afterwards.

I came to find out Darcy Law but now more interesting to know he is writing backwards from back of clear glass..or just a video editing..
@berkexan41172 жыл бұрын
They flip the vid mirrored side to side,the original vid would show the equations left to right
@ymk19752 жыл бұрын
@@berkexan4117 Yep. He is behind the glass and writing as normal direction. And they mirrored video side to side. Evidence? Way his shirt with buttons and belt on his trousers.

Wrong explanation. Permeability is the ability/measure to transmit the fluid through a porous medium. The unit is m2 or D.
