Thank you for this. Was very nostalgic. It really hasn’t changed too much over the years. I grew up going to this park during the summers of my youth. We used to have family reunions and camp out and go in the park during the day. They had laser light shows and concerts (with lots of big name artists) at night. The Predator was my very first roller coaster. Since I wasn’t actually tall enough to ride, (I was prob two inches short), and my dad really wanted me to experience a roller coaster, he snuck me thru the entrance while my uncle distracted the other guy. I remember literally standing up straight while going down the first hill. Thought i was going to fall out. But after that roller coasters were and always have been my favorite ride.

I remember in the late 80s as a kid growing up in WNY, The Viper was the only roller coaster in the park. 30 years later now there’s like 6 of them??

The entrance to the Grizzly Run is actually down by the entrance to the concert venue, not down the same pathway to Mind Eraser.

I went there for my class trip and it was FUN! My favorite rides is the Mind Eraser and Grizzly Run. This park is 10/10!👍😁🎢

Thanks for the walk and presentation of the park. Actually the concept of the Moto Coaster goes back to Dutch manufacturer Vekoma. They built the prototype for that ride at Toverland in the Netherlands. The coaster at Darien Lake is actually by Italian constructor Zamperla.

Good tour of a very nice-looking park. I'm impressed with how open it feels, more like a real park with rides. However, now that Six Flags has bought it again, it will probably change back to a corporate park, which for me is not better. For one thing, they'll probably get more food chains. They'll probably cram more rides in where there are open spaces and trees. They might change Moose on the Loose to some superhero name. And I'll bet your coaster picture won't be $3.95. As an independent park, I would have visited it; as Six Flags, I probably won't.

That's my fear as well. But considering that Six Flags hasn't technically "bought" the park (they're leasing it), I'm hoping that they might use a lighter touch (as they're now doing with Great Escape) and retain the unique character of Darien.

stereolab00 well it depends on the day. There are more people on the weekends and when there are very famous and popular concerts and shows. But I recommend going! Its amazing there! This year it opens this Saturday which is May 5th!! This is our first year getting season passes and I can not wait to go :))

My advice is to NEVER attend a concert at Darien Lake. Too ,any drunks, eight dollars for a bottle of water. Exiting the concert takes hours and the DWI check points make traffic even more of a nightmare. Darien Lake used to be nice when the pavilions were open to the public, pack a cooler, pick a table, go on the rides , head back to the pavilion for lunch and dinner. Now that Six Flags bought it again, prices will jump, customer service will go to hell. You won’t catch me there.

The entrance to Grizzly Run is next to the Performing Arts Center entrance. And most of the man made Darien Lakes are at the State Park a mile down the road (not at the theme park)

There is one of those lakes (man made) @ the park. Hydro Force was built on that Lake in the 80’s.

You didn't talk about the building behind the vider and gocarts! That building holds shows their was the Batman show, sealion show, a circus act. It will change every few years. The shows are usually 4 times a day!! 😊
