I see most of the comments are parents, but I’m just 2 months shy of 21, single and child-free, and this song just evokes something for me. The “it won’t be like this for long. This phase is gonna fly by, if you can just to hold on” as he sings through the stages of adolescence lays comfort on my spirit as I keep finding myself facing low lows from childhood up to now. I’ve only been in this Earth for 2 decades, yet I already feel so very exhausted from the moments I’ve had navigate through for the past 13 years. But I look forward to the day where I have some inner peace, so I’m gonna continue to hold on. Thank you for this song

Every day she asks me if my day is complete and I say no... then she gives me a big hug and kiss and says "now I made your day complete". It's the highlight of my day! I'm so scared that this will end, and some day it will. I just hope and pray that I can raise her well enough that she doesn't hate me and always knows that she will always be my baby girl. My daughter just turned 18. This song has been my life since the day she was born and I first held her in the hospital. We looked at each other and right then I promised her I would take care of her forever. Not many things in this world make me cry, but I whenever I listen to this song I absolutely break down. Right down to my little Emma holding onto my leg and not letting go her first day of school. I cried when I got in my truck, and there's been endless times when the incredible love and sentimentality I feel makes the tears start again. This song hits me very hard - it seems every verse, every word was written for me. It's exactly how I've felt and what I've experienced. It's unbelievable...thank you Darius for reminding me what really matters in life by writing such a beautiful song about a father's love for his daughter.

This song is brilliant! Just one phrase “it won’t be like this for long” perfectly emphasizes how we sometimes want time to speed up and yet slow down at the same time. Difficult phases won’t last forever, yet, neither will the wonderful times. My daughter just turned 13. This song makes me cry every time. She’s leaving another stage and entering a new one. I’m nervous for these teenage years but I know….. it won’t be like this for long.

I bought this CD (yes CD, lol) for my husband for Father's Day the year it was released. I remember thinking the time is going to go by so fast so please let us soak it all in even through those really tough days. Our daughter was very clingy and we never felt like we got a moments peace but she is now 14 and wants nothing to do with us! Now, I wish I could go back to those days sometimes. These teenage years came way to quick!

I hear country music get so much crap and it bugs me, I mean how can you hate this kind of passionate music? And this man's voice, is amazing. This song is beautiful, I thank god for creating the beauty that is music. So I can feel the powerful emotions it brings to me, and the great joy it shares with my soul.

That's the problem with today's society. All it needs is a dope beat and no substance and everyone goes bat crap crazy. (People are dumb) This is real music, in which idiots no nothing about.
@nicka270210 жыл бұрын
410ytlmustang Every genre has good music you'd be ignorant to think otherwise. As the listeners it's our job to discover songs that make us feel a certain way and people can find that in any music, doesn't mean it's good or bad. That is the true beauty of music, it's opinionated and special to individuals.

As a mexican, i feel kind of weird listening to this music. But I'm a rice farmer, and this music is what really moves you being out on the farm for 10-12 hours a day.

The music that gets the hate is the "bro country" that has been comin out the only singers I know that make songs like this are Cheney Darius and Jackson and I don't even think Jackson is working anymore
@gregorylagrange7 жыл бұрын
I like many different kinds of music. But country fans are the quickest to express their dismay of how people don't like country while either simultaneously or right after expressing their contempt and dismay of people liking any other type of music. Darius Rucker is one of the top song writers out their, but people like what they're going to like.

I was a soldier once upon a time. I was an infantryman and spent 24 months in Iraq and Afghanistan in Frontline combat operations before I turned 21. I came home to a beautiful baby girl after my last deployment but the mother had left. I raised her with everything I had. But I always struggled with what the wars left me with. I drowned every day out with alcohol for a decade. I was there, but I was absent. I cry when I listen to this because I missed a lot of those moments because I was so lost. Today, I told my daughter I'm sorry for everything, and she told me it was okay. I asked her why she said it's okay when its not. She said because she forgives me. I told her she was a very strong and very special person to be able to do that. I told her she has such a big heart and to never lose sight of that. She told me she has a big heart because of me. I'm crying relentlessly. Kids are so special and have the purest of hearts. Treasure them. ❤️

I'll always remember listening to this song on the way home after my daughter's birth. The lyrics resonate with me The sleepless nights and constant attention can be strict, but this song is a beautiful reminder that these moments are fleeting, and I should cherish every second. Thank you, Darius, for perfectly capturing the rollercoaster of emotions of being a parent. "It Won't Be Like This For Long" is a constant reminder to hold onto these precious memories

Hang in there my little fighter girls, it wont be like this for long!!

Having my daughter born with Esophageal Atresia and Tracheoesophageal Fistula at birth, spending her first 40 days in the hospital, requiring a Tracheopexy at 7 months, a third of her first year of life in a hospital, and being diagnosed with mild Autism before she was 2.5; this song caught me off guard one morning at work and I shut my door and just bawled for about 30 minutes. This kid doesn't give up, she just trucks along.

No idea what is going with you 2 years after your comment. But let me tell you my wife and I fostered and adopted two girls. There were many days we had no idea what the future held for us. Our daughters could have gone back to their bio family at any moment. I had to learn to lean on the Lord, and not on myself. It was hard, but when you don't know how you will go on, God will carry you. May God bless you and your family, and may He give you the strength to go on even when you don't know how.

I have listened to music all my life. Have sung since a baby and played a few different instruments. I know some people just like one style of music, but I really love so many different styles and artists. This song is absolutely beautiful, amazing and so true. Due to many life long chronic conditions, I was told I would never be able to conceive, last year a miracle happened a gave birth to a beautiful baby. This song is filled with so much emotion, so much truth and the words are so fitting. This song fills my heart with so much happiness and love. At times when I have felt I could not cope due to lack of sleep or when bubs is crying due a new tooth trying to come through. I listen to this song on repeat and now even if I’m up all night and day and I’m up with a very irritable, teary little one. I now even treasure these moments more than I did before. Sorry for such a long comment this song is just so fitting. Love it, Love it, Love it, Love it ❤️
