Opaline’s castle, looks distinctly like how cantelot castle used to look on the G4 map. Maybe that explains why she’s hiding out there so easily, because it’s like the castle of the two sisters and is ‘abandoned’. Pony kind assumes it’s in ruins. It also follows on from the theory of her being twilights apprentice 🤷‍♀️

My prediction is that Misty the unicorn henchgirl, will spy on the mane five to learn more about them. So when Opaline strikes she’ll rule Equestria with an iron hoof. But as Misty spends time with Sunny, Izzy, Hitch, Zipp, Pipp and even Sparky, she’ll warm up to them and see them as her friends. This would eventually lead to her betraying Opaline to help Sunny and her friends defeat her once and for all. Let me know what you think of my prediction. By the way, the animation is not that bad. I believe it will approve overtime.

Honestly the animation really isn’t that bad, Is it amazing? Not even close, but look at other 3D kids shows and media, compared to that it looks good, the characters hair especially looks amazing. Like that screenshot of Pipp and Zipp on the beach, the lighting there is incredible, you can already see the improvements from the last special. Also personally I like the villains design she looks cool

Very true, but it's also important to note that this animation studio just took the models from the movies, which were already high-fidelity to begin with (which is why the texturing and hair particles look good) and doesn't necessarily speak to how well they can pull it off on their own. What DOES make me hopeful is seeing the new background ponies though! Clearly this team has enough experience to mirror the quality of the movie models for their other characters, which is always awesome to see. I will say that while yes, in SOME screenshots the lighting looks a lot better, that was also the case for the 'make your mark' special and that animation quality was terribly inconsistent. This show definitely can look good, but due to time constraints I'm sure a lot of corners will be cut and that'll result in certain shots being rendered less and therefor having worse lighting. We won't know until the show comes out but so far I'm still a bit nervous about the animation quality despite these screenshots. (Though one of the animators working on the show have said that the animation does get better overtime as they learn the rigs of the models, so that's always good news!)

I saw her and her concerned expression back in chapter 1 and was hoping she would be kinda like Thorax like his different feelings on Chrysalis's rulership. I'm cautiously optimistic but very looking forward to the future of Pony's despite what some other fans yell at me.

I know the people who are directly making the series, I study in the exact same college as them ( the series and movie was taken over by an Irish animation studio called boulder media and the people I am talking about are all Irish animators ) they are amazing and talented people. But sadly they are not given enough budget to truly let this new generation shine. I will say I love the assistant looks a lot better in lighting and opaline doesn’t look too bad but at some points in frame it’s a total eyesore. They only have so much to work with and these are the same people that helped make the movie. I hope with the series and new episodes coming out the new generation will be embraced by the pony community just as MLP G4.

It look bad, the animation, the villain, the story and Misty becoming new Starlight Glimmer. Its obvious she reforms because she doesn't have edgy dark colors like Opaline. And characters with those colors like Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis or Sombra remain evil, while those with normal colors like Stalright would eventually reform.

Y'know, looking at the gen5 map, it does line up to some places in gen4. The earth ponies might be located in the desert, the pegasi is probably I the Mountains inside the forbidden jungle and the unicorns might've found themselves in a revamp everfree forest. Also opaline's Castle looks suspiciously alot like canterlot just saying. Again, the locations are fairly smushed in the gen5 map so I'm not really sure.

I'm not sure that the Unicorn with Zipp and the Unicorn with the Alicorn (and flower) are the same character. There are subtle differences in the look of their horns and freckles that make me think we're looking at either Twins or similar looking siblings. Also can I point out the Alicorns magic and horn are giving me Sombra vibes.

Interesting, the pattern on the new unicorn's horn appear to be different in the two screenshots she is in. In the first one with Zipp she has strips of alternating pink and blue running vertically on it, and in the one with the Alicorn it is a simple ombre from blue at the base to pink at the tip.

Misty is such a common and overused name in the MLP franchise. There's the G1 baby seapony Misty, G1 Princess Misty, another G1 Misty from MLP Tales and the G4 Wonderbolt Misty. I wish those ponies had surnames to differentiate them from their first names. It would be funny if this Misty assistant sounded more like Whoopi Goldberg taking after the hyena Shenzi. I still think Opaline looks ugly. If her hair colour was fiery orange to match her plum jam fur, then she would be decently okay.

I AGREE. The art could be better. It's pretty bad. I think they're trying to make it more likeable for the new generation. But idk. Hopefully the art will get better. But story line why's, I know they are going to do amazing. In make your mark, Zip asked a ton of questions, and whenever a character asks questions like that, you know they are going to answer all of them. And Zip asked some pretty good questions. With a flat head 😭 All they need to do is desaturate her coat SLIGHTLY and lighten it like a couple notches. Her hairstyle in it's entirety can just be tossed out tbh LMAO Here's my theory for what actually happened with this design; I bet that when her design was conceptualized it was brought forth at first as a 2D drawing. I betcha the people looked at this 2D ARTWORK and were like "ah yes, do it" and it just...it just translated SO poorly into a 3D environment. Because I've seen 2D art of her in the comics and she doesn't actually look all that bad. Still a weird color combo I wont lie (Either make her pink and mint or purple and blue jfc) but it passes a LOT better in a 2D medium than it does how we see it now. But changing the models colors rlly wouldn't take that long plZZZ. The re-modeling of her hair would def take time sure, I'd understand them not making that change, but for gods sake stop making her look like a discount karen. We're supposed to think she's COOl lookin. Intimidating even. This lady feels more like an annoyance or an irritating itch than an actual threat. I'm just praying she's actually written well atp. Everything else abt this gen is making me soooo nervous but I'm rlly holding out hope that it'll be good.

Agree that there hasn’t been much of a G5 marketing push - as someone who is also in the UK, there is a definite lack of G5 merch in shops, and also to a certain extent on eBay and Amazon. I have seen a few other people talking about G5 on KZbin, but you’re the only person who provides updates like this video. Sad to say I’m really not sure whether I’ll watch the new MYM special and series. I admit I am curious as to Opaline and Misty’s roles in the series, but that’s about it really. I think maybe I’ve gotten bored of G5 through the constant stream of Tell Your Tale videos being shoved in my face! Maybe the villains superpower is bad character design. She'll shoot beams out of her horn that, when the target is hit, will change them into just as ugly design. Maybe her backstory relates to everyone seeing her as too much of an eyesore. Then she'll eventually turn pretty at the end, her colours tuned down a lot, and she'll finally be at peace. And then Twitter will tore down the show for its bad message and we will finally accept that My Little Pony ended with its 4th generation.

I'm at least curious. I'll admit that. However, I see only 2 possible outcomes for G5 with all the lore they've established that completely contradicts G4 lore that makes no sense. Option 1: G5 manages to salvage itself and move on as its own thing. Option 2: it bombs due to trying to include G4 in ways that contradict both G5 and G4 lore. Those are only outcomes I see possible after everything so far

I wouldn't say that G5 would bomb *because* of the lore inconsistencies. Yeah, it's a really big deal. I know since MLP lore is one of my special interests. I just don't think that'd be why the show would tank though. Not everyone is there for lore, and those who are may keep watching it for the sake of trying to find some sort of answer. At least, that's how I see it anyways. I enjoy the characters (well, as long as they're depicted as how they were in the movie) and I'm still super interested to see if the lore can be saved. If anything, I think G5 would go down for many other reasons like poor storytelling (if they keep up the quality of the special) or how Netflix is not doing so hot right now.
