I’m thinking of a Spanish explorer. His first world was dying, the second one across the sea was believed to be the savior of life. Not too long after the explorer’s friends and those of multiple nations arrived found that the americas was troubled. Talking to the maya and Aztec refugees, the explorer found that the gods were angry with the world. The explorer offers to go to the third world and confront the gods. They tell him he will not return but he doesn’t care. If he has to go to lands unknown to save not only the new world but the old world.

Good timing! Me and my buddy in Mexico were just talking about a story idea that has Quetzalcoatl as one of the characters. Maybe you can do some Aztec-specific deities next? Mixcoatl, Quetzalcoatl's father (in some legends), is my friend's favorite but I'd love to see Tezcatlipoca too! Will share this with them ASAP
