Looks good! I am having a hard time enjoying painting marines recently. Maybe adding some grimdark will bring the fun back. Small tip for using Krautcover that I only learned recently: Don't shake the box to mix it. The bigger stones will rise to the top that way. Rather open the box and use a small spatula to "mix" it by lifting elements from the bottom to the top and vice versa.

I rarely comment on any video, but this has to be the single most inspiring painting video for me. I played mainly Dark Angels as a kid and I collected about 4000 points at the time. Then about a year before the pandemic my local game store shut down. So with no place an no time because of university I sold every single miniature because I needed Money. But followed your tutorial using caliban for the base, 1:1 caliban and warpstone for highlights and a 1:1 abaddon and caliban for shadows. And it looks absolutely awesome. Your most recent video about comments seems to have disappeared right as I was leaving a comment. Here it is: I consume ALL KINDS of miniature painting content, and what I've noticed is that content centered around Warhammer and/or grim dark style seem to get the harshest comments. Is it "gatekeeping"? I don't see that type of comment in the purely art type painting (not for gaming), or painting board game miniatures videos. I'm not into Warhammer, and I don't paint in the grim dark style, but I still very much enjoy watching your videos. Keep it up!

If I want to recreate the base paint for the armor without an airbrush could I do a base coat of black with a zenithal spray of green to create the same effect? These are great guides for grimdark. Interested about your approach to thinning paint for airbrushing. It sounds a lot like you shoot straight in rarely thin down?

I definitely thin everything. Some require more than others. Some things like inks or some contrast paints i dont as they go through smooth. It all comes down to a number of factors such as your airbrush. Needle size and pressure. Always aim for milk like consistency and urll be fine 👌🏻

I try to avoid airbrushes as often as I can, only really leaning on them for vehicles because it just saves so much time. You mentioned that for those of us who prefer using brushes that we could get by and actually get a more "battle damaged" look in the process, anything special you'd recommend for going down that route? Or just the standard topdown approach? I like your color scheme way too much to not try it, but i'm definitely going to try and drybrush my way through it.

Hi, I've watched this video several times as I really like the way you made it look. When you layer on the sons of horus green, you then do the scratchy method in the same colour, it doesn't seem to show up for me if I add it say to the top of the pauldrons. Is this because the first layer of SOHG is lighter? Or should I do the scratches in another colour such as deepkin flesh suggested by another responder?

Hey Feral painter, I have that same airbrush, how to you dilute or mix paints with that airbrush? Other airbrushed I have seen folks block the tip to cause a back flow of air. Ermmm im not sure as citadel dont have any that are similar, so pick a gold that close to that. I cannot recommend citadel as none are similar to the one i use, so feel free to use your favourite gold from them. …………………. Hey dude, I wanted to say I've been doing DA Chapter 1 year this month and have watched so many different ways to paint DAs. I've imagined hours of just wondering how to paint DAs. Anyway in all of that..., this is really one of the coolest looking, most original ways of seeing an artist paint dark angels I've come across. I don't have an air brush. I have a Revalon makeup one, which I've seen used to effect, but otherwise I'm all dry brushing. I don't have Horus paints. Are the colors listed here? Egg green? Acryl Gold? Anyway rambling great video!

Sure u just thin your paints more than usual and apply smally ammount on brush. Working them up layer by layer. Adding small ammount of the highlights eqch time 👌🏻 hope that helps
