I played this when the remaster came out, so we’re talking 2 whole console generations later, and I was blown away. How could a game nearly 20 years old be so fun to play? It has aged so incredibly well. The music, the simple yet enjoyable battles, the addictive system of upgrading your weapons! And the cell-shaded graphics are everything. If that wasn’t enough, the towns are all quite spacious and darling (as is the world), and the story is perfectly paced and consistently great. A perfect 10 if there ever was one!

The experience Dark Cloud provided was far superior to any open world RPG. Instead of just being a series of boring fetch quests with very little in return you got actual rewards that were incredibly valuable. The game really rewards skillful play to the max while offering a numerous amount of things to do. They had the audacity to give this masterpiece an 8/10 when no other game managed to have so much to do at the time with an amazing original story.

This game gives me so much nostalgia from my childhood, I remember coming home after school and playing this game and just being amazed at everything about. VGM is funny, it can be so simple but bring back such great feelings of nostalgia.

I loved the train station music. I'd go to the trainstation when I was heading to bed and just leave it running there. Balance Valley was also a good one. Actually most of them were good for relaxing. I loved the pumping rhythm in the Gundorada area. I hated the final boss fight though. I don't have that kind of coordination.
