I’ve had a lot of joy with the Cold One knights. And a Master/Dreadlord on a Cold One chariot is pretty durable (and can dish out a lot of damage)

Yeah I didn’t really get to touch on the master on the chariot, but it’s a great combo. Can also make him a BSB and the +d3 CR banner to have a big chunk of CR even before you fight. -Sean

Best part about shades is they are scouts. May want to take ambush if the terrain placement is not favorable to scout. Ensure you place some woods in a convenient location. The only question is, do you take guiding eye on champion or just get 1 to 2 more shades.

I see some potential with Doomfire Warlocks if you put the assailment spell "Daemonic Familiars" on it, which gives 2D6 Strength 2 hits with no armour save (6+ spell). On top of that you have 6 Poisonned attack and 10 attacks from the Dark steeds. All of that with movement 9, you can hunt a lof of things and be quite a nuisance in general.

Dark Elves have always been a challenge in tournaments to be fair. I remember in one tournament match against a Dwarven shooty army the organizer set up the table with a hill on each side and little else and no terrain in the terrain in the middle at all. Needless to say this "fair and impartial" board setup made me just want to capitulate the game without fielding a model.

Yeah they lack something Either a cost reduction or a nice niche rule

I think the Lore Familiar is a weaker choice in any list with an item that gives you +1 spell if placed on a level 4, unless the army hinges on spell combos. The ability to get a signature spell is too valuable when it's as good as Black Horror.

Curse and black horror seem terrible. Expensive, pretty short range, and the effect is dubious. Curse is obviously bad, but look closely at black horror. Hard to get this off consistently and it does nothing this round because vortex appears not touching the enemy and could move a random direction away from the enemy. I suppose it can act as a speed bumb to a unit, but for a spell that you can default to in case your random selection sucks, it seems lacking. I would much rather see a really basic magic missile that even a level 1 sorceress could cast.

Well you can use murderous. You just decided to use a single handweapon instead of your other weapon. So witch elves would not use the second hand weapon. But yes an incredibly bad rule.

I think you were being charitable towards executioners. At the same cost as Blackguard, they are laughable trash. It makes me sad how bad they are.

I think you missed one other detail that makes Black Horror a no brainer over CW. The template only hurts “enemy units.” It is only possible for a friendly unit to take damage via dangerous terrain.

Executioners are good.. best infantry unit after shade for me.. in line with a good magic support are very strong.

Issue with dark elves is that on release they was weak and then gw went back and nerfed a couple of things in the legacy pdf and made them even weaker
