Did you notice there was Easter egg thrown in from the movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life”? Remember “It’s A Wonderful Life” is the story of the character “George Bailey” being given the ability to see what life would be like if he’d never been born. The reference I’m talking abt comes in at in Ep 2 at abt 9min 5 seconds into the episode. Jason2 walks down the stairs and the cap on the stair post almost comes off. This is significant bec the cap on the stair post in “It’s A Wonderful Life” is sort of a “key prop” in the movie. If you’re a fan of the movie, you’ll probably make the connection.
@aaronfrey44186 ай бұрын
The first two episodes were frustrating since we as the audience knew what happened, but had to slog through Jason trying to figure it out. It was especially frustrating since he was a physicist who tried to build the box years ago and it never dawned on him that's what happened until he found the notes. And a lot of the drama would have been solved if they would have stopped to have a conversation for five minutes before running or beating each other up.

Definitely one of my favorite shows for a while. Waiting every week trying to figure out the intricacies. The character studies are the most interesting part. How Ryan and Jason both can’t be hugely successful. Seems like even though best of friends, one is dominant and the other somewhat lesser or slower. Although there is every world imaginable this interplay of how each character has affected each other one is fascinating.

your comment is very good. you are right when you talk about human characters. I am from Romania and I know this in real life. I also waited every week for an episode until the 9th. the end was a disaster for me, a scenario which defied logic. don't you think it was exaggerated, I ask you.

I was really disappointed by that cancellation too! While I get that the first season was convoluted and strange, they've already proven they can tell a complex and layered story filled with difficult concepts and still nail the landing. I read the book some 5 years ago. I don't remember all details, but I wasn't as enthusiastic about it as you. I still enjoyed it, and was entertained by it, especially the start and the last 100 pages or so. It certainly had a very good finale. But, overall, the book was about 3.5/5 for me. It is one of those books that the more you think about it, the less you rate it :). However, I always thought it made a very good material for a TV show/movie. I even dare to say that the writer had an adaptation in mind while writing. Apple is not one of the platforms I have all year, but at some point I will subscribe for a month or two and watch it.

I want to read the book after finishing the 4th episode, but I don't want the plot spoiled for me by doing so. I think I can see where some of the plot could be going. Visiting the lost would be too much of a temptation, I know I would do just that. The last few scenes about his son were gutting. My dad used to say that good sci-fi is about humanity's reaction to the anomaly (time travel, alternate universes, teleportation, etc) and in some cases, the use of it for selfish needs. I much prefer character-driven story-telling to the spectacle and action for the sake of action. "Dark" was also a favorite of mine.
@MoviesAndMunchies5 ай бұрын
Dark is my favorite series of all time. I agree, I love character-driven stories as they allow for so much connection and emotional response - even if it's a negative response to a character.

Many who tried to watch it noted it is slow, filled with minor inconsistencies that should have been caught and is rife with fair at best acting. On a personal note, the audio cinematography is bad, as is the low quality post work that makes an attempt to give it a dark edge, just makes it dark. I had lots of problems with this so far. Why make himself drive anywhere? Why not just knock him out and take him where they are going? Why change clothes? Is he worried he will come home in a different shirt and the wife will assume he is a different guy from a parallel world? Why not tell anyone (until the very end of episode 2) that he was abducted and drugged? Why not tell Daniella earlier about their life together to make her understand he isn't making this up? Why not show anyone the cheat ring on his finger? For someone that is supposed to be brilliant he is not doing things in a very smart way to fix the situation he is in except complain he doesn't know what's going on. It's obvious (I did not read the book) that in the parallel world this was all a black-op hush hush operation? I guess from the scary people chasing and shooting at people? I hope this gets better I am about over it already. If it were me being kidnapped in that I car I would pump it up to 90 mph and say you kill me we both go out. He is leaving too much to chance and too easy for something to go wrong. And why are they in the same house?? I mean, a house that a couple buys is usually not a house a bachelor buys.
