As an Elite Reaper...it is my job to knock at ones door...rake them by the hand, and walk them to their resting place...to put one at ease with the world....to allow one to pass to spirit rehelm...maybe some day one of us will knock at your door...and when death knocks at ones door...one must answer...

"There must be some mistake!" the old man cried to the ferryman. "I'm not dead!" The ferryman kept his head low, steering the boat along. "It's not true!" the man shouts, "I'm leaving the boat." As he takes his jacket off and moves the the edge of the boat the ferryman turns and grabs his shoulder, stopping him. The old man looks at the black nothingness inside the ferryman's hood, "where are you taking me?" For the first time the ferryman spoke, "...to your wife..." He points towards shore where a woman stands waving. The man falls to his knees crying, "Why? Why am I dead?" The ferryman puts a hand back on his shoulder, more consoling this time, "...because everyone is not perfect, and our imperfection leads to our death..." The old man looks to the ferryman. No longer did he hurt, no longer was he hungry. He left for his wife and the ferryman was left alone in his boat again, until he found another soul...

Althaea Ratliff the Religion there can be no hymn for death, without life. Even in our imperfection do you know what we are, what we long for. Something so close enough to touch...but impossible to reach.

We, ourselves as humans, will always want answers to what comes after. We will never rightly know until we are dead. I find that quite sad but it should be said that comfort will always be found in the thought of the ability to reach out and talk to those who have passed. Some how filling this in makes some people comfortable with the thought of their own demise. Have I gotten close to this divine force?, no. I can only think, hope, and ponder about what comes after.

What really gives the chills is that on this day we represent nearly 2% of all humans who existed, and Homo Sapiens existed for over 300 000 years. And 2% of 300 000 is 6 000, that would have been the number of years necessary for all currently living humans to be born and still be alive to get to that percentage, if only the human population had remained constant since the beginning of its history.

"Don't be afraid" she said, looking out the window into the darkness. They both sat in silence, so silent that they were able to hear the little droplets of rain patting on the window gently, but soon enough, he broke the silence. " I'm not afraid, I'm terrified " " But... Death is an adventure, my love. " " an adventure, so you say? Then why do people cry over the dead? " She looked at him in the eye, trying to answer him... " Death is an adventure for the dead, although sometimes painful, it's something you have to accept and let nature take its course, and when they cry at your grave, they cry because they will miss the adventures they had with you, and because they'll be missing out an adventure you're having without them". He squeezed her hand, " But I don't you want to go " She kisses him softly on the cheek. " it's time for me to go, my son, just promise me one thing... you will sing me deaths hymn when you're stoof at my grave. "

As a deathly silence fell amongst the room The room grew cold They both knew that death was here with them...standing along side them At last death made himself viable He kneeled down to the boy and in an alarmingly calm voice death began to speak He said to the boy, "It is going to be ok...she will not feel pain....she he will not suffer....she will feel warm...comfortable....tiered...she will drift to sleep....then I will proceed to put her at peace....is there anything you would like to say further before she gently slips away from life?" The boy looked death in the eyes, instead of cowering and hiding, the boy huged the reaper...and the reaper huged back...tears began to stream down the boys face...all three of them knew....it was time....and it would all be over......soon

@@Viking-Grafton and with one last look at the woman who had held him, clothed him, fed him, LOVED him, he whispered two singular words. "Thank you..." The reaper waited, for even though he spoke not, he knew he wasn't done with his final farewell. The boy held her hand, her grip was weakening in his grasp. She was right Death was an adventure. An unexpected journey. But just because someone was right, didn't mean it wouldn't hurt like all the axes and swords in the world weren't bearing down on him. It was too much. He let go. Her hand dropped and the reaper moved in. The very last of her breath fell away from her lips and then, as the reaper had promised, she passed silently and peacefully into the realm of the dead, the realm of those who had seen all there was to. She was at peace. So, even if the boy was heartbroken, as the lone tear fell down his cheek, he realized something. He was too.

*death* Is it not a word for lost A word for confusion Or a word for greed Sometimes we die in a sad, sad way Sometimes we feel different in a scary way Is it death we hunger for Is it greed we lust for Or is it all we die for Many, many are gone but they live on Not in a body not in a void But in our hearts They are here because of our memories Our forgiveness Our love Its not a coffin that holds a simple cold body that's emotions don't work Its a person that feels lost while laying in such a death bed A person that is lost wondering if they will find you or they'll find them self Greed is what the humans want a person that wants more then love a kiss or a hug Its what we all need A simple coffin made just for one..the greedy one that shall live no more... *thanks for reading*

Death is not what we fear. We fear Leaving those we love behind. We fear the darkness. Don't be afraid of death. Be happy about it. You are only a gift from God sent to death. We are gifts to the one we believe we fear. That makes us cruel and heartless. Embrace death for it is only new and eternal life. We fear the pain we will feel. The sadness of others. We do not think about anything other than that. People hear the word death and instantly think of dark nothing and sad people. But what they don't think of is the gift that we are to the one who leads us to eternity to all life. Till death do us part.

As I looked into the sky, I wondered. What did I wonder? I can't exactly say. I saw the storm clouds gather, as the sun remained beaming true before the light was consumed. Frozen winds blew over me, and I clutched my coat a little tighter. A little. I stood there for a while. I can't exactly say how long. I felt like I was taking my last breaths as the chilling breeze cut into my skin. I fell. I lied there. Life and death aren't that different, really. When the sands of time stop flowing, they meet. They don't contrast. They bond together. Your memories flash by. And you look forward. They always imagine death as black, but I imagine it as a mirror. It reflects you lifetime back at you. The light at the end of the tunnel. But, sometimes, the rain dies down. I was strong. I remembered I had more to do before I could walk down that beautiful tunnel. So I picked a blooming flower, and stood up as the sun broke through the storm. The flower was black. The field was white. It was a wonderful bit of symbolism, really. No matter how beautiful life may seem, there is always one shadow amongst it. Ready to remain past the others.

Death means nothing in the grand scheme of things. It is simply the end of life. However it is up to you to find what it means to you in the present. Whether it is something to celebrate or to grieve about, whether to look forward to it or fear it. It is ultimately the end of life, and can mean nothing, but everything.

"Why?" he said as if a whisper, his head was getting heavy and his eyelids heavier, struggling to keeps his eyes open flashes of the past came and went like a movie reel, showing him what was and how it came to be. It felt like the seconds became minutes, hours, days and even years. From the time he was an infant till this very moment, he watched it over and over again refusing to let go trying to re-live what has passed, but still unable to no matter how much he tried. "Why?" questioned the man. "Because that's how it came to be, what's done is done" a voice suddenly answered as time came to a standstill. "Who is there?" said the man. "Death" the voice said as an apparition like figure walked closer. "But it can't be, how can it be?" said the man. "Oh, but it is" answered Death. "But why?" questioned the man again. "You ask a lot of questions" answered Death, "but if I have to answer, it is because it is your time". "I still don't want to die!!" said the man aggrieved. "But here you are about to die, and nothing can be done" argued Death. "But I have been a good righteous man, can't I get more time" the man argued back. "Righteous, sinner, good or bad, it is all the same to me" Death answered him. "Isn't there anything that can be done?" asked the man. "I'm afraid not, it is all too late" said Death. "Then what about my loved ones?" asked the man. "Their time will come too eventually" said Death. "That is not what I am asking!!" said the man aggrieved. "Then what do you mean?" asked Death. "How will their lives turn out without me?" asked the man. "Who knows" answered Death, "that is for them to find out" "…" The man was stumped not knowing what else to ask. "If you have no more questions, then it is time to go" said Death as walked away a few steps, he turned around and said "follow me". "No" said the man unwilling, "I don't want to!" "You don't have a choice in the matter" stated Death as a fact "willing or not, you don’t have a place in the world of the living anymore" And before the man could say anything, everything faded into black. "No hard feeling, a job is a job" said death vanishing the way he came.

Am I the only one thinking of a beautiful beach scene or nice a rain forest covered in colorful bright flowers and a gorgeous scenery. Honestly the sound of rain isn’t meant to be sad nor is this song dark at all. And since I love the rain it just makes me think of a nice rainy day where the grass is blowing, wind in your hair and the expansive smell of nature all around you.

So many years has past. Yet many still live. But soon enough. Your name will be written down, on death's list. And soon enough... You will. Be missed... Many may, or may not beable to reach the future. But they may, or may not beable to do things on their own, from what it takes. To reach. The future... But no matter how hard you try. I still belive in you.... Always stay strong.. Always

Death is a beautiful concept. It's something vile we all want to escape from in a great time of need. It's like a person we think best to ignore in order to carry out the daily peace in our own little world. Do you want to know why death is something I find awesome and wonderful? In a way, people could summarize death as the equivalent despair to the same hope that drives them each morning, to talk to the same friends, to carry out the same routine, to meet others and gain some new and dry perception of life, and maybe even go out a night or two to celebrate the time that escapes our present moment. Is death really anything ugly? In fact, look at all the illness we have brought upon our own kind in this life of a heartbeat. How could anyone truly call that anything amazing? All it takes is one singular and powerful thought to realize how tranquil the act of departing the world is. There'd be no love, hatred, dreams, nightmares, suffering, destructive prosperity, and there would be no trials of creating a mind that usually has no value in the world beyond death. I enjoy ordinary people for how they are able to delude themselves, but I also kind of hate them out of pure disgust. It is because their actions are the same, no matter what destiny changes or alters. They'll always come to do the same thing, because there is a great comfort in the ultimate deception. Man's own lies. Fruitless smiles, meaningless values, and useless convictions that do not place power to prevent the disaster and weakness humanity allows to develop. There is no future we want to make our own. Our dreams are meaningless, our ambitions are seeds that have yet to rot itself out, our prayers are cries we recognize to excuse how powerless our existence is, our beauty is made artificial in the eyes of the public, our morality maybe is noble but time will come when they fail to meet their own ideology. Almost every person, including myself, embody an aspect of generic features, many not so different from others, some too similar, so we should question ourselves if we died, how would the world be affected in the long term? Sure, loved ones will mourn, keep you as a memory, but those cherished images will perish in ashes when grimness invites itself to the end of their life. Death is such a lovely concept. There'd be no point, no journey, no ugliness, no beauty, no pain, and no expected blessings to reign upon down our waste of space and oxygen. That is why death should be the happiest thing on earth! LOLOLOLOL. *sound of painful and awesome captivating laughter* DEATH IS JUST ONE FUNNY JOKE OF terrible timing. Happy holidays!

As she closed her eyes, everything turned black. The time came to a still as her loved ones looked at her... They were devastated. As the light escaped from her eyes into the air, her eyes turned darker and darker until you could see nothing but black. As she perished, she turned paler and paler until she was pure white. As her soul escaped her body, the soul wandered and wandered until she just turned more and more evil. She killed all the people who made her this way. She was also a lonely teenager with no one by her side. The loneliness killed her. The harsh words from the people killed her confidence. The guilt killed her conscience. And most of all... her monsters killed her soul. She is all of us who are holding on right now and have no idea until when can we hold on...

"Sewn into the grounds of an ancient hill, in a land far from happiness lies not what one wishes to think of. The eyes of those who lay there, forever closed and glossed over like a beautiful locket that has no opening. The soil of the dead surrounds them as they rest in a never ending slumber of cold and dark. Damp rain is but a solemn and sad bringer of life, but falls on blind eyes and deaf ears. We bring life to death, for what atonement? The brightness of life, like a modest candle, reaches nothing but the surface of the dark silence. Forever said for those that remain, death is nothing but an ending, an ending that closes the book on life and eventually encompasses us all."

Death is just there because we haven't gotten rid of it yet, but do not feel disheartened, it is not our fault entirely; first we should think about whether or not we want it gone at all? eternal life is eternal suffering and there is nothing more terrifying than that. "live your life with death in mind." "all stories have an end, the question is how much are you willing to pay to prolong your own." "Beauty fades and that is why it is beautiful." "One can only accept death if they accept the life they lived." and "If you can, accept all the things you already know you cannot change, it can only hurt less when it inevitably happens."

A girl was standing in the darkness, confused and scared…a shallow figure approached her: -Where am I? What is this? -You are dead. -What does it mean to be ,,dead’’? -It is a new beginning,an opportunity. -Can mommy, daddy and big bro come? -Soon,very soon. Death took to girl by hand and walked with her into the darkness…

This brings out so much sadness in me... and I’m not exactly sure why Maybe it’s the fact that I look forward to facing death... that I’ll be free from the stresses and vile people of this earth... but this makes me change my mind, as if I pass... I’ll finally be at peace, but my soul will be at unease with the friends and family I’ve left behind...

And so you awaken, lethargic and sore Your back lay against a hard wall, hands resting on the dusty ground By your side, a lantern sits, the small candle flickering and shadows dancing. Looking around you see a path either side of you, leading away in to the inky darkness Above, a shear cliff of slate, extends to the void above And finally in front, the murky abyss. Gazing down the drop, a thick fog softly flows as if in a gentle breeze But none can be felt. Slowly, you hear a soft voice singing to you from the abyss Calm and gentle, the notes glide up to you. Stirring you rise, stepping close to the edge You listen entranced, the voice increasing in volume Something flickers in the mist, a dark serpentine figure looming in the haze. You raise a foot, hovering over the edge, but stop Thinking for a moment, that this could be the end, a fall without return The voice, ever gentle, assures and promises peace and tranquility No more burden of pain, of sadness, anger, nor regret. Still you stay yourself, and withdraw, Stepping back against the slate with a sigh you watch the mists Slowly you see a swirl, a triangular head coming through More defined than before, with glinting cobalt scales and piercing magenta eyes. The creature trills, soft and gentle _You may not come now, but inevitably you will_ _And you will always be welcome, when you wish to rest_ _For the gift I have, can not be denied_ _And your name_, you query _I am known by many_ _But you probably know me very simply_ _As the one called Death_ The serpentine being retreats, swallowed by the swirling mists But the song you can still hear, her soft notes and hums Long and sorrowful With a shudder you gaze down at the lantern to your right The candle burns still bright, but without wear. As you pick it up, you see a small piece of the path crack softly and drop away Raising the lantern you move to inspect And you watch, beginning to understand Another crack, slowly working over the path, small chips falling into the abyss That if you stay here, soon you will fall into the mists, weather you want to or not Standing back up again you turning around The slate cliff flanking your left The abyss to your right And what lays ahead, is a dark, dusty path Lifting the lantern, you march forward, into the darkness Knowing full well now that you must move forward Or fall into an embrace, you can never return For long you walk, the singing ever present, sometimes louder, sometimes quieter Thoughts running through your mind Memories fresh and old, flashing before your eyes Your body growing weary, hunched from the great march And as if a prayer had been answered the path widens You find yourself in an alcove large enough to lay in Maybe a small rest, is all you need The voice becomes clearer again _It pains me so, to see you endure for so long_ _Please accept this small gift, and know I mean no ill_ Sighing you lay down your lantern and rest Gazing up at the starless sky, watching the shadows dance from the candles light Then you hear it, something different Bolting up you search around wildly And there, a small crack in the slate Moving close you see, something magnificent and beautiful A land of green, and a sky of blue Where leaves blew, and birds flew Of flowing rivers, and a field of light You sat for an age, watching and drinking the sight And then came the voice, sorrowful and low _I am sorry, but I can hold this no more_ _Will you stay here, or will you go_ Whipping around you see it again The one you might call death The eyes betraying no malice or hate Mere pity and regret. _I am sorry you awoke here_ _But only an illusion is there_ _In the end, all will come here_ _Weather they see it, or not_ And then you notice it, the path crumbling What had only felt like minutes had in fact been days With a groan you rise, grasping the lantern and holding it high _But why me_ you demand A long silence passes, and then _I do not know_ _But I can not reject my nature_ _As you can not reject your fate_ _Like so many before you_ _But I can try and ease your way_ And so the being, which you seem to be a monster upon first glace Disappears again to whence it came Long notes and a deep hum sing, from the abyss so far away With a sigh you step out Onto the path again Looking back you see the alcove slowly fall away With a pang you feel like you are starting your journey again Like nothing had ever happened Turning forward, you continue on Marching the cold and dusty path _Why did you show me that_ You call _Why bother at all_ You feel the presence return, concealed by the veil The soft, gentle trill flows over to you _Because you awoke here_ _In this bleak place_ _And now see things true, as they should be_ _But for one so young, before your time_ _For you this is a curse, that you should not have yet seen_ _You should not be here, and I can not release you_ _I can only guide the lost and the fallen to peace_ _But for you, I will try and ease_ _As I said, the inevitable will occur_ _And I will embrace you, and relieve you_ _When I can, I will let you rest, and see the other side_ _Of what you have been cheated, and I regret, will not get_ A single tear, rolls down your face Your head hanging low, as your tremble and cry The lantern hangs by your side Slowly the song returns And up you look, to the one called Death Tears like gems, rolling down the cobalt scales _Come, your time is not yet_ _And while it saddens me to see your pain_ _There are still many things I can show you_ _Before the end of this road_ Lifting the lantern once more You set off again At slow pace On the dusty path In the realm of shadows The song of sorrow around you Abreast with the one called Death

This reminds me of the day my parents passed away, they were not the only people that died that day, with their leave, they also took me, i've never smiled ever since, i've never felt joy since, life is as dark as is the darkness in their graves, i will never be the same, ever again, i never wish such pain even to my worst enemies, people please, spend time wirh your parents, never act bad an angry on them, never leave them telling em u will never see them again, u will eventually reach a point when u wish u could take those words back to embrace your parents, but it will be too late. May God forgive me for my sins because i will never forgive myself. May God have mercy on my soul broken as it is
