Dark November

Dark November was one of the last demos recorded by Paula Pierce of The Pandoras. I believe it was recorded in late 1990. She passed away on August 10th, 1991 and the following day Rodney Bingenheimer played this song on his radio show during his tribute to Paula.

Paula recorded this on her 4 track. It's all Paula (with a drum machine). This is how she used to present songs to the band.

A beautiful, powerful song that has me in tears thinking about Ms. Pierce going 60 years too soon and Ms, Shattuck too. Truly great song.

Apparantly everything on this demo was sung, played and tweaked by Paula herself. She had a simple boombox for quickie recordings and also a standard tape-based 4 track.

RODNEY BINGENHEIMER still does play this song...just did. Wish there were a regular video for this compelling song. Who were the musicians? Knew that Sheri Kaplan (drums); Lissa Belltri (rhythm guitar) and Kim Shattuck (bass) were still working with PP at this time. I myself did a demo with PP on guitar (Three Starlets) in Dec. 1989. Poor PAULA...Nov. 1990 would be her very last Thanksgiving...

If you mean the demos "Three Starlets" and "Boris Karloff Didn't Meet The Runaways"---no,Bill Bartell didn't produce those. I got PAULA into TONY JONES' recording studio on Western Ave. (think it was @26th) and that recording engineer himself (and me) produced it. Around Dec. 15,1989. Mr. Jones no longer rents his studio out to the public. To do the rest of my album,I used fellow Texan JOE MILTON (JO MUSIK STUDIO),then based in Van Nuys.

BUT I helped the guy with some lyrics. A few words he couldn't figure out....however,between us the mystery was solved!
