@michaelklaus2 жыл бұрын
I think it is intentional since it draws a comparision between Ines and Hannah and seems to show a similarity between the two. Mild spoilers for season two: Although it is not discussed but it seems like Hannah does believe in the season two opening that Jonas will not come back. It is left open if she believes he got kidnapped and possibly killed, ran away, or killed himself. But the scene I mean does still conveye this notion of: I did not know this would be the last time I saw him.

One of the best things about Dark is even if you figure out big reveals before they happen, it's written, filmed and preformed in a way that still makes them so impactful!! That is really impressive to me!

I think the trick here is that the scenes in question are not written to simply reveal what or how that happened (like in a typical heist movie for example) but the scenes focus on why things happened in the first place.

In an interview the main writer said the show was written with many different types of viewers in mind, types in terms of how literate they are in storytelling techniques and how attentively they watch. You are definitely one of the types she mentioned, in that the show was written so that often-times you can put together what's coming quite early and then revel in all the connections that lets you see on even just your first watch, it delivers great satisfaction. The complexity of the evidence and reveals themselves somehow manages to accommodate all viewers through to satisfaction. With for example the Mikkel/Michael reveal one person may be able to deduce the trajectory of events while still in early early episodes from the time travel laws, implications of the way things already are, and tiny slivers of insight given. Another viewer might realise in episode 5 itself just before the reveal as the episode ramps up the connections continuously into a crescendo of evidence.

When I first watched this episode, I was releived that Tronte and Peter did not have anything to do with the death of Mads, Yassin and Eric (Peter only saw the body of Mads fall into the 2019 bunker). Claudia instructed them to not say anything. But in the first few episodes they were so sus! I also felt very sorry for Tronte. After all those years, he knows what happened to his son and he can't even talk to anyone about it. He was genuinely sad and grieving. Once again: good acting!

Thinking back on your reactions , i am amazed on how much you picked up. The one minor detail you could not now about was the context of the raider bar found near mads body . This chocolate bar is still sold today in germany , but under its US original name twix. The namechange happened in the 90s so if you know about that it is another hint that the body was displaced through time . Than again the clothes ,walkman and the 1986 deutsche Mark are already enough hints ^^

11:54 Yeah that's one of the most impressive things about Dark, it feels like there's always something happening and there's never a break (you could argue that episode 4 was more of a chill episode, but it was still great and it did introduce Noah). In fact, if you look at IMDb's highest rated series by average episode rating, Dark is number 1 at 9.112 stars. The individual episode quality really reminds me of Mr. Robot. A little tidbit of information that is never mentioned in the show, can only be concluded, but is basically inevitable. The flow of time is linear, as we have learned throughout the show. The portal, the machine, the chair... they connect times in exactly 33 years of distance, to the day. Here in this episode, we get to directly see the "travel" of Mads. It's Nov 6th. So it was Nov 6th 1984 when he was strapped in the chair in "sent". For other parts of the show we have learned that he had been missing for several weeks at that point. In episode 1, we start the main story at that exact day, Nov 6th. We get to see Erik the first time, lying in the bed in the bunker, clearly disturbed and the TV playing "You spin me right round". We get to see him again in episode 2, when he is placed in the chair, just a day later. We are also told in episode 1 that Erik had been missing for 13 days. Now connect the dots. The missing children are kept in the bunker, in 1984, clearly discernable from the wallpaper. That's the place and time the chair, the time machine is placed. Mads had been in the bunker on Nov 6th 1984. Erik had been in the bunker on Nov 6th 1984. The must have spend a few weeks there together. (You can even see there's a bunkbed). Now remember the first scene with Erik, lying in the bed. He's not distressed because he's kidnapped by someone with a strange taste in 80's music. He's terrified out of his mind because he has just witnessed his fellow captive Mads being strapped into something that looked like an electric chair and dissolved into thin air.
@billross72452 жыл бұрын
Definitely refresh S1 before heading into S3, I think you'll appreciate the details more. I think we sort of see the beginnings of Egon's Satanists kick with Ulrich spouting 80's death metal lyrics in English, making predictions about Egon's life, child sacrifice. About time to call in an exorcist. Agree that the musical montages are perfection.

Helge survived two assassination attempts: First Ulrich tried to kill young Helge (S1E8), then old Helge tried to kill middle-aged Helge here. But if we go by the theory of causal determinism for a moment, then, since there was always old Helge in the future, he must have survived that far, on his personal timeline between birth and death. He dies here, after traveling back to 1986, when he tries to kill his middle-aged self. But middle-aged Helge survives, becomes old, travels back to '86 to attempt to kill his younger self, and... 😅 P.S. Now you can finally watch the intro! At this point in the story I sympathised more with Claudia than Noah. It is a bit unfair because I have seen an older (presumably wise) Claudia than Noah. Noah comes across as ernest, so he believes he is in the right. Claudia, when she visited Bartosz, really came across as full of regret and remorse. But what I really wanted to say about this here: people claim that Jonas has changed and he sees something different now than before.
