Dark Duet by CJ Roberts I remember being good but it's been years since I read them. The first is called Captive in the Dark then there's Seduced in the Dark - I believe that's the name of the 2nd book! I think she even made an Epilogue book, too

This video was recommended to me on KZbin, and I just have to say: thank you so much for it and for how you talked about the whole topic. I often find the book community shames people for liking this stuff, without understanding it and why they like it - it’s a lack of understanding and often a lack of empathy too. But also, a lot of people in the book community lack introspection on what these tropes they like are, if that makes sense? Anyway, sorry to ramble! Just wanted to say I love the video and thank you for talking about it in a sensitive and sensible manner. I’ll definitely read Asking for It!
@TheBookRefuge Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughtful comments! This is how I feel about the topics too. I'm never about the shaming attitude. But it is also fair to wonder why we might be attracted to some disturbing things. It's just not something people are always willing to see the nuance in.

Yes, Sam Mariano knows how to write a villain as a "hero" you can't help but love...(cough, cough...Mateo Morelli...cough😉) Adding Stealing Cinderella to my TBR. I like her mafia stuff, and this may be a Cinderella story I can enjoy. 😆 I've been enjoying the Horde series by Zoey Draven 🔥. Yes, if you make an agreement you Should have to honor it. That thing bothers me too. Adding the Claire Kent series too. I've never heard of it before, but it sounds interesting. 🤔 There you go again, not helping my ever growing TBR. 🤣 A Hunger Like No Other is still a favorite of mine despite the misleading cover. Greivous Loss by Adelaide Forrest is 🔥 🔥 and my favorite from the series. Side Note: It's such a shame that in today's world you have to explain that Fiction is Fictional and just because you read dark romance doesn't mean you want it in your real life or maybe you do 😉 as long as it's consensual. Funny, you don't have to hear these kinds of disclaimers with mysteries. Like just because I read a book 📖 with Murders in it doesn't mean I'm going to get all stabby 🔪 after reading it 🤣...or maybe 🤫

Awwww. HOLD has me swooning for Cain. I’m more into Noncon, like full on.. twisted, dark, violent. Take by force by the evil MC. But when I started reading the ending where Cain was feeling guilty like he took something from her at the beginning of the book? I just died inside. He’s such a strong MC AND he’s not just some monster… He had a conscience wondering if he forced or took what wasn’t his. In theory i like dark romance, but while reading I always have issues with the themes. Like right now I'm reading a book were the hero (mm romance) is kidnapped by a serial killer that assaults him, yet his body is getting pleasure from the encounter, and I'm thinking to myself; how dare he get pleasure from the villain, and how dare his body react... I haven't yet refined what i like and what I'm comfortable with, but dark themes keep me engaged with a book, lately i dnf most cutesy fluffy books i attempt to read.

Ok but why have I read all of these books except for Truly 😅 I’m so happy to find someone on book tube who likes these tropes because I need more recs but no one talks about these types of books on book tube. There’s a new wave of people that like dark romance on booktok but there’s so many different tropes and levels to dark romance. Lots of people draw the line at non con/dubious consent/ cnc/forced breeding etc.

I veiw the reader as giving the consent,mainly because of how I read books,so NC and (c)DC are faves of mine. I do wish there were more somnophilia books out there though. I read an erotic romance where the heroine gave her consent on camera,in writing etc and then had her memory wiped of it. So much fun. My poor tbr list is dead already so what's few more.
