Yeah, definitely don't look up family trees, but there is something so satisfying in guessing the twists on your own before they come and finding out you're right. I love the show for this. All the twists in the show so far made perfect sense in relation to the rest of the plot and they're not just randomly put there for the shock value.

You think the twist here are good now? Omg just wait till you get to season 2. I have been reviewing episodes of season 2 and it is ccrraazzzzyyyyyyyy

I'd like to add that even looking up names of characters when the show came out could lead you to this conclusion. The family trees popped up a short time later IIRC. But you can draw the connection more easy if you pay attention in the scene between Hannah and Aleksander in episode 1. It it the only time that Michael is referenced by name before this reveal. Their last name is the other big hint: When Ines Kahnwald is (re)introduced in episode 3 shortly before the close up of her name tag she revelas that she does not have a family. Which is confusing because she is obviously Hannah's mother-in-law and her son was more than 40 years old when he killed himself. Personally after I had seen the "murder wall" in episode one I had already started to focus on each and every one of those people and already wondered if time travel worked in a deterministic way or not. So I figured it out before it was revealed. Which is basically what we did with LOST back in the day, right? We kept piling up these ideas and concepts from the real world and tried to estimate how this would influence the story... I still feel like somewhere along the ride the show stopped giving us answers. And then there was the hard break between the scientific 5th season and the spiritual 6th season.

Great reaction as always! One thing I would like to mention...This is why some people say it's important to write down notes, names or family trees. It's not that it won't make sense otherwise, this show is quite good at reminding you of things you might not notice later on, but if you really pay attention, this Michael/Mikkel reveal is not a twist at all. I think as soon as you see the nurse attending to Mikkel, it's quite easy to connect the dots with her being Jonas' grandmother and having the "mysterious" letter. So I think one reason why this show is so great is that every "twist" has its roots in the rest of the show and so it makes sense. The show is basically giving you choice to either follow the story as it's revealed and having these "twists" moments or trying to connect every little detail for yourself and finding out what's happening and guessing what's next on your own.

When I first watched this show, I watched it with my mom who had watched it already and in episode 2 or something I was like "ha, wouldn't it be funny if Mikkel was actually Jonas' dad" and my mom just stared at me and walked out the room. I had no idea, I would turn out to be right😂

I didn't expect for Mikkel to turn out to be Jonas' father. In the first episode when his father killed himself it could be his other self from when he traveled and that's why he did it. I was also thinking 10:13 could be the time he time traveled.

@@jessiegarcia6849 sorry i didn't want to spoil anything so my comment is kinda cryptic (and my answer to yours will be as unspoilery as possible too i hope). I meant the scene here where "the stranger" and jonas are at michael's grave (which i totally forgot that this scene ever happened) and the stranger says "he saved my life back then". And then in season 2 we find out what he means bc we find out why michael killed himself.

@kristyandcowreact4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a great reveal & they really set it up perfectly. Ep 1 I was wondering if might be possible for Mikkel to be Michael bc it's the same name, but felt weird (as it would mean Jonas was Mikkel's son & older Mikkel/Michael was living at time when he was being born - couldn't wrap my head around if that could happen. So, I though, ok, well maybe he's the stranger. But when he met Innes in ep 2 I knew Mikkel was Michael. And I changed my guess for the stranger to who is does end up being... I was quite proud of myself lol. Then S2 kicked off and I was totally mindfucked & didn't see most of it coming, so, yeah, Dark. Lol 🤷♀️

Katharina (Ulrich's wife and the girl Hannah accuses Ulrich of having raped) having a black eye in unrelated to Ulrich. Though of course it looks bad for the police.

"Even here I ship him more with Hannah". Wait you mean in 1986?? When Ulrich looks like he's 18 and Hannah looks like she's 10? Heck no!! Hannah literally looks prepubescent, whereas Katharina looks like an older teenager/young adult! I would throw up if I saw Ulrich lay a single hand on that little kid during that timeline

A lot of the names like Mikkel, Magnus, Mads, Tronte, Bartosz & Egon aren't really common in Germany, though.
@appletinitwoappletinis72495 жыл бұрын
Egon is an old name, most people with that name prop. died at this time. Also the name Martha, very old, def. not much used for young girls. But there are def. some exceptions. Like the son of a family in the neighborhood.. his name is Karl-Heinz. He's 6 or 7 years old.... The son of a friend of mine is 4 years i think, his name is Mads. Bartosz is a hungary name. Maybe it was Aleksander Tiedemann's (who is maybe from the area) idea for his son. Magnus, Tronte (an Mikkel) came prop. from the northern countries (Denmark i guess) just like that name 'Nielsen'. I think thats why Martha, as a still common name in Denmark, is used here. Scandinavians are still using this old names very often. Northern Germany und south Denmark speak in a relatively large part both languages.

Great video Joe! Thanks for posting. I enjoyed it very much. That twist baffled me a bit when I first saw it though, because in my mind I couldn't make the connection between Mikkel being Jonas's real father, but also part of the Nielson family/the son of Ulrich and Katharina in the present day. Wouldnt' that mean Katharina gave birth to Mikkel? Still confused. Any help from you or anyone else would be apprciated. Hopefully I'm not just being stupid haha. Also, side question Joe: what country are you filming from?

@@GinnySiska Ya I'm not really a fan of Sabrina either. I thought The Umbrella Academy was okay but the only thing I liked about the show was the character Number 5, the little boy. I didn't really care about any of the other characters or the storylines that didn't involve 5. I ended up being really disappointed by the show, I had such high hopes for it and then never really got invested in the majority of characters or storylines. I still plan on watching season 2 though but only for 5. I think it was good that I didn't go into The Boys with any expectations because their was no chance of being let down.
