@MrMcsia Жыл бұрын
I find it crazy that the cast usually gets residuals for re-runs. Earning millions today for something they did 30 years ago?
@AB_Evans Жыл бұрын
@@MrMcsia ~ What? So, it's okay that the production studios, executives, and licensing companies (etcetera) all get paid - to this very day - all get paid for the show, but the actors who gave the show life, connected with the audience, made numerous sacrifices, and worked just as hard, or even harder, to make the show a success don't deserve their fair pay? What? You realize that this is also how music artists make a living as well...? One major hit song can keep you very, if not extremely, well set for life. In fact, it's a huge element of an artist's pay. That's part of television, music, and movie artistry - your pension is in the residuals. (Example: Dee Snider talking about how writing one song (which Céline Dion recorded and featured on her Christmas album) helped him pay for his house.) And, usually, it's not millions. Thousands or hundreds, yes. But unless it's supremely successful, like Titanic or Queen's "We Will Rock You," you're not likely to get million(s) dollar residuals. Maybe they'll eventually add up to that, but rarely all at once. In fact, Geoff Schultz (the actor) joked about a residual check he received years ago. (He actually shared a picture of it.) Want to know what it was worth? 1 cent. That's right. A penny. So residuals, yes. For ALL involved. Everyone deserves to be paid for their work. No matter what.
@1977TA3 жыл бұрын
The Cosby Show reruns should not have been pulled from tv. What a celebrity does in his or her private life is separate from the work he or she creates. So if they end up in a terrible scandal and are found to be disgraceful humanbeings they should be punished accordingly, not their body of work especially if said work was something as positive as the Cosby Show is.

To be honest, from what I've seen and heard, The Cosby Show has actually gained MORE popularity since the sexual harassment allegations and I'm not surprised . Whatever you may think of Bill Cosby himself, there has never been, nor will there ever be a family sitcom that touches everybody as deeply as The Cosby Show . Every show that man ever made was PURE GOLD . My siblings and I grew up watching reruns of the Cosby Show, Fat Albert and A Different World . My nieces and nephews loved Little Bill . They're 4 shows that I can say will still be relevant and popular 100 yrs. from now .
@officiallydenise2 жыл бұрын
I would say that’s a personal opinion but it’s not a popular one. The cosby show was actually pulled by so many networks in 2014 that it caused Geoffrey Owens to take up a job at a traders job after losing the show royalties he depended on. Later Tyler Perry hired him for a role in one of his networks. The cosby show is still considered a hot debate and many networks are still unwilling to air it. As great as a show is, if we know the lead role is a monster then most of America simply refuses to watch. If we want to change the world we have to stand against the monsters and everything they represent.

Truth is, his accusers LIES were flimsy to begin with . Take for example, his biggest accuser, Beverly Johnson . She testified that it was only AFTER 3 qualudes, that she realized there was " something in this drink ". They said in court mind you, that a qualude is about as strong as a HORSE tranquilizer . And that's just 1 . This woman had THREE qualudes, and she STILL wast knocked out ? That story was as fishy, as the nets on the runway . And don't even get me started on the REST of the CIRCUS of " women " they brought in to testify against him . EVRYBODY LIES and RAPE and sexual harassment can and has been used as a tool to wreck many a star's credibility . Truth is, Cosby was just too good in a world full of corruption and lust, his wholesome quality shows just didn't fit in . Watch out, if you ever make it to Hollywood . Regardless of what Cosby did it still has not stopped me from enjoying the reruns of “The Cosby Show.” What he did to those women is disgusting but no one knew about his perversions at the time of his popular shows. His perversions have nothing to do with his talents. It’s a shame how he used his name to take advantage of up & coming starlets though..🤨

Still a great show, all the cast members were on the show and are legendary in their performances. The show was well-written and the truth behind them not acting just shows how great of an actors they were/are... doesn't matter at all and never did; the truth is just to show the reality to separate reality from television.

When Raven Symone , on the Oprah Winfry show said, "I'm an American! Not an African-Anerican, but an American." I thought it was great, & Oprah's reaction was terrible. Maybe if we all saw past each other's skin colors, & other stuff, we could all come together as being all Americans. We may be from different parts of the world. But we all live, & are citizens of the same country, the United States of America. Therefore, regardless of our ethnic backgrounds. We are all Americans.
@rolonnataylor41903 жыл бұрын
I agree, Oprah’s reaction was awful. She completely swayed the opinions of the viewers with that reaction.
@quehansuela3 жыл бұрын
I agree with Raven in that I remember when black people started calling us African Americans and I was like “hey....no!” Because I’m African American I have an African parent and an American parent. I saw it as a trap....you are American. I’m American and if you want to get technical I’m literally African American. It’s crazy because I live in Europe now I’m just American here.

I loved the Bill Cosby show. When I watched the Bill Cosby show, and watched him act, it was like looking at my dad because he had that sort of discipline and humor. Nothing will ever change that. I never saw color,he acted like most Dads back then. You can say whatever you want about him personally. You cannot take away his talent. PRIME EXAMPLE : Will Smith.

I agree with Simone. Nowhere else are Black people called "African" when they aren't from Africa! Why say African-Americans instead of just American? We don't say "African-Canadians" or "African French" or "African British" etc. She is right in not labelling herself from a country she hasn't emigrated from, and focusing on her real nationality.
