This was the first and only one of a FEW soap operas to ever been shown in reruns.

The best soap opera ever even though I don;t think of it as a soap opera

We all used to run home from school to watch, unfortunately I only saw around 100 episodes when it ran to start with.

This is wild. I grew up with KBHK-44 in the 70s but don't remember Dark Shadows airing on that station. I do remember it in the early 70s on ABC.

I think the Kaiser-owned stations generally ran it late at night. WKBS 48 in Philly did as well.

I believe fans demanded it iirc and since DS was saved on kinescope and was shorter than a lot of soaps it was easier to re run

@@googleuser7454 Dark Shadows producer Dan Curtis saved the original master tapes, not kinescopes. Of the 1225 episodes broadcast, original masters remain for all but 25 episodes. Those 25 were saved by ABC as black and white kinescope copies. Dark Shadows was saved precisely because of syndication. It would have gone into syndicated reruns in the autumn of 1971 had it not been for an FCC ruling that delayed it until 1975.

@@markfaulkner5626 Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know the full history behind it
