Dark Shadows Ep. 275 - Barnabas kills Jason McGuire

Jason McGuire had just been thrown out of the Collins household after his efforts to blackmail and marry Liz Stoddard finally failed. He goes back to the old house, where Barnabas Collins and his caretaker Willie Loomis reside in the hopes he can grab some jewels before leaving Collinwood. Willie gives Jason a few jewels, but it's not enough for him. Willie strongly advises Jason to leave the old house but Jason won't listen. Jason feels a fortune worth of jewels are hidden in Barnabas' coffin.
It's dusk and time for Barnabas to rise from his coffin. Jason opens up the coffin at the very worst time for him, as Barnabas strangles him to death.
Jason's death at the hands of Barnabas happened on Episode 275 of Dark Shadows, which ran on ABC from late June 1966-early April 1971.
This video belongs to Dan Curtis Productions and ABC. I'm uploading it to promote the old Dark Shadows series here on KZbin in the hopes a current producer will bring back Dark Shadows and pick it up where it left off in April 1971.
In a possible Dark Shadows series resumption, I'm hoping for events like Adam being brought back to the show and marrying Carolyn, and Vickie being returned from 1797, along with Daphne coming on board from 1840 and being a second live in tutor with Vickie at the Collins household.

This was one of the more satisfying ends to a character on DS, even more so as Jason was killed by Barnabas and other than Willie, no one ever found out.

I watched the show as a kid in the early 2000s on VHS. I don't remember a lot, but this actor and his death stood out as amazing in an already great show.

This is brilliant storytelling… McGuire a guy that was only mere moments from being the patriarch of the entire Collins Family fortune to die in the basement of an abandoned house attempting to rob a coffin like some low life criminal… from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.

both Willie and Jason are not all there are they. both honestly think the Collins burried their Jewels in the coffins. it ends with one a servant and the other one dead. Jason's look of shock seeing Barnabas in the coffin dispite being told by Willie he was in it.............what's the matter Jason what the hell do you think is in a coffin normaly a dead body...what is so shocking about that.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

He had every right to kill him, Jason broke into the Old House and and assaulted Willie and then threatened to expose Barnabas unless he got what he wanted. Willie warned him to the point of telling him exactly what Barnabas was and Jason still ignored him. He had it coming due to his own greed

Can't believe anyone would have a problem with Jason getting a comeuppance. Jason had no right to blackmail Elizabeth, especially since he knew all the time that Paul was still alive. Jason was the stupid one, it's not like Willie didn't try and warn him. Jason just wouldn't listen to him (as he himself mockingly admits before Barnabas' hand reaches out and chokes the life out of him). Barnabas actually killed Jason out of self-preservation more than anything else. He couldn't take the chance that Jason would go blabbing to the cops with what he found in the basement. No one other than Barnabas and a handful of other people know about the secret room in the mausoleum so his burying Jason in that room was actually pretty darn smart.
