I agree with each and every point especially that record labels exploit their artists and then leaves them as if they didn't exist. For example there's an artist named Zayn Malik. When he dropped his songs like Pillow talk and Dusk till Dawn, his label RCA did marketing for the songs and played them on radio (radios have a big impact on the US music industry). But after that they didn't do anything for his 2nd and 3rd albums bcoz he suffers with anxiety and so he doesn't do live performances( the live performances are a huge source of revenue for the labels)

Taylor Swift rerecorded her songs cuz her masters were sold by Scooter. She earlier removed her catalogue from spotify cuz they didn't pay artists. Later spotify started giving the artists what they deserved. She manages her career which is a group of 13 and she decides and leads decisions. Comparatively, many Artists are managed by someone else who always put them in a space where they can't even decide what to put on the album. e.g. One Direction . Zayn wasn't able to put a song he wrote and made in the album. They're always locked in a house and can't even get a freedom to chill out. Zayn developed eating disorder too. That's why he left it. Julia Michaels wrote Sorry, Lose You to love me and many more hit songs we know. Recently, Good 4 u became a hit and there were tiktok mix with one paramore song. Later, Olivia and her producer had to credit Williams and Farro on the record. (The guitar strumming of Misery Business and Olivia's vocals on Good 4 u match) Music labels most of the times only use artists. So, artists had to create their albums'merchandise for earning and beauty or fashion brands Artists should hire a good lawyer or else someone else will take their hardwork and credit.

The record label aren't really involved with your shows most of the times, which means they don't and cannot take any revenue from there, however the royalties that you earn from your music is split depending on the deal.

The money an artist earns from streams is very less compared to brand deals There is no artist present in today's world who earns only through his music Samples are sold at very high prices, believe me all major badshah hits are from samples.(using sample is not wrong but we cant deny this fact)

@@AK-hk3hj Singers are never overrated,they get what they deserves. They work hard for years for making their vocals extraordinary and struggles for getting the position. But sadly not always singers get what they deserves, you have to be either Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Sonu Nigam, Jubin Nautiyal, Atif Aslam to get the recognization as these singers have fanbase in crores... And nothing wrong in that because they are extraordinary singers and worked hard for years.. But when it comes to underrated singers then the actors gets all the credit, and I think that's overrated cause actors don't even sing the songs but still the labels mentions the actors name but not the underrated singers name in title.

There is a label Desi Music Factory which does the same thing that is said is secret 1 . Their songs are super hit because of promotion by influencers they are paid .
