@@itriggerpeople4433 a lot of sons of Gwyn’s royal line are sort of androgynous, (Gwyndolin was raised a daughter despite being born with male genitalia, as opposed to his brother who is super traditionally masculine looking). Then we have Lothric and Lorian who both have long flowing hair and no facial hair, and Lothric’s voice sounds pretty intersex. I wonder what the artistic reason for it was. Maybe to add more questions the way Miyazaki loves doing. Maybe there’s a trans type gene in Gwyn’s gene pool that keeps popping up in his descendants. (Lothric and Lorian’s mom is Gwyn’s daughter Gwynevere.)

Please note. The twin prince's are considered to be one of the hardest bosses in the game. one of them is crippled and mute. And he is still the backbone of this bossfight. That is impressive. Also shows how pathetic the other lords are in comparison.

The easiest one for me is Aldrich. You can literally bum rush Aldrich with any abyss weapon and easily kill him without taking damage, he didn't even use his barrage of arrows on me when I fought him. Yhorm isn't really a fight imo unless you're not using the storm ruler.

No boss fight makes me feel crappier. I absolutely hate having to kill these guys. To me Lorian is awesome and I don't blame Lothric for not wanting to burn for eternity. Frankly, from the first game on I was really like "Yeah, I'll bring about the Age of Dark, it sounds like a pain in the ass to keep the Age of Fire going, you're just fighting a losing battle", but _no_ that's not _canon_ because they made more games. Even though the Souls games have a lot of "killing people / things for vaguely defined reasons when it's not self defense", I kind of wish that you could ally with these guys rather then kill them. Hell, you can choose to not link the fire anyway, meaning that if you choose that ending you basically killed them for no reason.

Master Markus And not to mention that even if you choose to reignite the first flame it fails so again it was all for nothing. When you link it in one a huge inferno erupts and in three you barely catch fire yourself. The world needs an age of darkness so everything can recharge so to speak. Every time you relight the thing it's weaker and so all the souls are weaker and then those weaker souls get added to the fire and it's just that much weaker again. It's like our seasons the ground needs fall and winter so that the plants don't suck all the nutrients out of the ground. Dormant plants means the ground can replace nutrients which produces stronger plants.

He killed the demon prince, but according to some item I'm pretty sure the demon prince soul, the pride of demons something something will cause him to resurrect with the last standing demon, That and you talk to the old handmaid at the very beginning of the DLC and she even mentions Lorian warning about the demons. which I thought was cool

From what I recall, both endings can be canon because the age of dark doesn't actually let the flame completely die out. It always comes back eventually, which is why there are multiple ages of fire and darkness. That's what Aldrich's "age of deep water" is about- a permanent age of dark, as the flame can't return. And it isn't that Lothric is necessary unwilling to link the fire itself, but that his tutor, some guy named Sulyvahn, persuaded that the age of dark is preferable to the age of fire. Plenty of theories as well that that's actually correct, as in Dark Souls lore, humans are of the abyss, which is why an alternate name for the age of dark is the "age of humanity"

I just cannot get over the way they animated Lorian's resurrection. It's such a short, simple scene with okay graphics for the time, but the way Lothric holds his brother's hand and asks him to return - instead of ordering - is so painstakingly tender it breaks my heart. FROMSOFT is so good at these little details that make characters we know so little about memorable and human.

The curse is just as Lothric says, the "fire-linking curse" since he considers being fated to link the fire a curse in its own right. So you, player who's fated to link the fire, you're cursed too, just like he is.

Soul of cinder is the best among all bosses imo. Fighting embodiment of the spirits of your old self from ds1 and ds2, and Gwyn first lord of cinder is real epic. the soundtrack though, just damn amazing hands down.

7:26 the way the choir syncs with Lorian's overhead slam is fucking amazing. After 500 hours into Elden Ring I can safely say this is still my favorite Soulsborne fight. It's definitely not the hardest but the lore behind it, the presentation, the soundtrack and satisfying gameplay make it a superb boss fight.

I love everything about this bossfight, the fight itself, the music, the concept, the cutscenes, voice acting, the design of this boss, the "curse" and the whole story of this boss everything about this fight gives me major goosebumps. Not only that but getting here to this boss through the really annoying and tedious dungeon getting to the boss and defeating them is so truly fucking satisfying. My favorite track from DS3. Hell, you can even feel the pain and despair that those two felt before their deaths, only to realize they were simply another target to kill, another toy taken by the cruel eternal cycle of Light and Dark, and thus, when Lothric refused to link the flame (as he already knew it was useless), he was punished for that. Besides, seeing how Lorian was willing to sacrifice his former self, his glorious past, his great strength and his pride as a warrior and prince, only to share the cruel fate of Lothric, his younger brother, so he could diminish the burden, and, only to try to defend him from the countless Undead that tried to kill him, made this song and fight much more emotional and cooler.

I quite like the theory that Lothric and Lorian are a single being, or rather one soul split into two people. The item description for their Cinders mentions that "The Lothric bloodline was obsessed with creating a worthy heir, and when this proved impossible, resorted to unspeakable means." It's very noteworthy that though the game specifies that Lorian is the Elder Prince and Lothric the Younger Prince, their soul identifies them as 'twins', which should be impossible if born at different times. I think that perhaps Lorian was intended to inherit the Kingdom of Lothric, and that when the Fires began to fade the royal family panicked; though he was a mighty warrior with a powerful soul, they didn't want to sacrifice Lorian but for whatever reason the mysterious Queen couldn't bear any more children. So with the help of Seath's research, transcribed by Logan as he went mad and preserved by the Crystal Sages, they found a way to 'split' Lorian's soul and create a new being from the taken half, one who could perhaps serve as a sacrificial lamb to the Fire. As is usually the case when people try to 'cheat' the mechanisms of the Fire/Darkness cycle (Witch of Izalith, Gwyn), the experiment was a catastrophic failure. It resulted in a pallid, sickly child, and the once-great Lorian was rendered mute and paraplegic. Then, influenced by a scholar who MAY have been Aldia but more likely Sulyvahn, Lothric rejected his duty, sparking civil conflict between the Crown and Church of Lothric. Oceiros went utterly mad under the weight of delving into Seath's insanity and the guilt of what he did to Lorian. Oceiros speaks of a possibly imaginary child named Ocelot, but this may have just been a nickname for Lothric (Oce -iros- / Lot -hric- , Oce-Lot); he states that 'Ocelot' is the "child of dragons," which may indicate the child is a result of Seath's research. Could be wrong about all that though! Just another inscrutable Dark Souls tragedy! But I will say, I think Lothric had every right to refuse the Fire. Imagine being raised with the understanding that the entire reason you exist is to be cast into a fire for the good of the world. The resentment is reasonable.

I think the curse of the princes was caused by the angels, maybe as retribution for Gertrude death, as we see the angels of the dreg heap can project holy light curses, even if they are not the same, we have evidence of holy magic and curses being connected.

@@sethamederat5841 Gertrude and the angels ordeal wasn't related to the princes decisions, aside from Gertrude maybe being the Queen's daughter, the angelic faith wasn't origined in the royal family. After being visited by the angels, Gertrude write-down their tales, this looked like scrambles for everyone that didn't had the faith to read it, so it was probably thought as the nonsense of a disabled woman, but as time went on people started to follow this teachings, most particularly the winged knights who were executors, the angelic faith extended so much that reached the military, the king at the time (probably Oceiros) declared this new religion as heresy to the pillars of Lothric, so they captured Gertrude and gave her to the scholars of the archive, who themselves were heretics that followed the teachings of Seath (but were colluded with Oceiros), they experimented on the daughter as her faith had no precedent, this caused the followers of the angels to reunited in secret and storm the castle in search for Gertrude, as you can see blue knights surrounded by corpses of red knights, eventually the winged knights found the maiden already death, this probably made the civil war end on hollow stagnation, with the red knights going hollow due to the prince decision to not link the flame, which was influenced by an scholar. As a side note, it is possible that the angelic faith ended up influencing Lothric in other ways, as he is a sorcerer like his father, but instead of using the crystal sorceries of the scholars inner circle, his magic is of a pale gold, similar to the angels miracles, this also is found in Rosaria's followers, the man-grubs, this is related to Gertrude miracle catalyst being transformed into a sorcerer catalyst, as according to the church of the deep before its fall (an institution that had an important influence on Lothric), using faith for sorceries is a sin.

@@dumpsta-divrr365 When it comes to gimmicks, I think the only one that stays true to the souls gimmick theme is the fight with rykard, being very similar with the yhorm the giant one from ds3. Imo the elden ring difficulty comes overall from the fast paced boss attacks and also the accent on the dex/faith classes, such as the use of magic, therefore, playing as a pure strength class automatically becoming such a hassle.

Hannibal Lecter funny you say that as I found the enemies you mentioned much harder. E.g I found pontiff and gundyr more unpredictable and faster in my view. Nameless Kings second phase had attack patterns that were easy to dodge and predict. I suppose it also depends on your character build.

+Fraaz Akhter Those two were definitely hard and extremely aggressive but their hp is quite small, they felt like Bloodborne bosses and I got so used to the fast playstyle. But I'm just bad at dodging delayed attacks which the nameless king does a lot, Nameless King doesn't feel he's straight out of Bloodborne so he felt like a completely new experience to me with his delays. But still the Nameless King didn't give me nearly as much trouble as some of the dlc bosses especially Darkeater Midir.

Just realized that Lothric is probably one of the only bosses we fight in their prime and he's so frail. Gwyn's lineage of holy children ended with a shriveled prince bred and groomed with the only purpose of becoming living kindling for a dying age.

This is probably my favorite base game fight, DLC is Gael. It’s a double fight but works more like a 2 phase boss where Lothric acts as an added moveset. The gimmick of needing to kill Lothric and not Lorian to win is a great way to make it so you don’t have to deal with 3 health bars. You also can’t ignore lorian to win due to him being the way both bosses move.

Am I the only one who noticed just now that Lorian's fighting style is _very_ similar to the Outrider Knights in this game? (the non-respawning knights who aggressively fight on all fours and constantly get you frostbitten) Without the mobility of his legs and relying on teleportation to get around obviously that obscures the similarities somewhat but otherwise... without feeling like going into detail as I am not good at describing fighting styles just... they are similar in many ways. I guess... just watch how an Outrider Knight fights in the game and how Lorian fights and look at them side by side? Is this a coincidence, intentional or am I just seeing things?

There is a theory that Pontiff Sulyvahn heavily influenced the direction of Lothric's fading of the fire, as there is a statue of a knight wielding a Profaned Greatsword in lothric castle, along with outrider knights dotted around the area including the Dancer. I think when Lorian became crippled from sharing the weight of his brother's curse, the Pontiff instructed them in the fighting style of his Outrider Knights.

Lorian: Dead, mute, crippled and partially brain-dead from his brothers curse. Lothric: Sickly and also partially-crippled from the curse, barely able to move without teleporting. The fact these two are capable of pounding you into paste as barely more than shadows of what they should and could be says a lot, and really underscores the fact that, by the time of DS3, all the mighty and powerful Lords, Gods and more are really just pale shadows of what they once were. Ants, walking in the footsteps of giants, and you barely able to keep up with them.
