+Carlub Possibly because the boss was waiting for an opening. The bosses reaction to your actions, so, say if the boss stops attacking you, and you guzzle down that juicy juice, it reacts to that, and attacks while you're trying to heal. So, I'm guessing Pontiff was just waiting for an opening.

+Dark Souls They do do that, it's happened to me before, I even remember someone saying that that happens with the bosses in a video. I do recall that someone said the Soul Of Cinder has the quickest reaction time, despite being the 2nd hardest boss in Dark Souls 3. Almost as soon as you take one sip of that Estus, it goes for a strike, will other bosses might take up to a whole 2 seconds to react.

The souls series is an absolute masterpiece. The design, the art, the mechanics, the gameplay were all flawless.never had as much joy in any other game than the souls series! +krischin well i wouldn't say the king of rpgs i feel jrpgs (you know the games that seem to refuse to change with the passage of time) are still ridiculously popular despite being relatively the same as in the past. every game industry has standouts and i do agree that dark souls is the ultimate action rpg series of all time (i am also including bloodborne and demon souls in this list) but all the same rpgs such as fallout new vegas, pillars of eternity, and witcher3, are also quite standout in their own genre and none of those were made in japan

You were pretty close. The gargoyles weren't there, but Gwyndolin was in fact consumed and impersonated by Aldrich. Oceiros turned into a Paledrake as a result of his obsession with Seath and the Moon. Ornstein's mentor was in fact that dragon rider, and it's where his weapon design came from, and that dragon rider is none other than Gwyn's Firstborn. The order may have been off, but you pretty much predicted them all right. Not bad. You truly know your Dark Souls.
