I M P O R T A N T N O T E : Once you run past all the enemies from the second elevator to the Twin Princes boss fight, turn right, there is another elevator that ends just below DSA allowing you a shortcut from the “Lothric castle” bonfire up on elevator to DSA and another to Lothric and Lorian!

You need the Grand Archives Key, which you can grab after defeating 3 Lords of Cinder from a corpse in front of the door. If you arrived early, say by defeating the Dancer, and then Dragonslayer Armour, but haven't done the Lords of Cinder, then you'll have to wait. Generally, I leave Dragonslayer Armour alive until I can access the Grand Archives because of this enforced game block since summoning Eygon of Carim prior to the boss is a very easy way to farm and clear Lothric Castle, especially if you are low-level.

Yeah, I should have done it for completeness. That ladder is not that useful because the casters will always hit you if you try and use it as a shortcut later, so you end up having to kill them which takes longer..
