These anor londo recreations always look stunning, yet somehow still miss the mark. The beauty of the city is its blinding golden sunset. I'd love to see it with an accurate sky and lighting.

Yeah, adding atmosphere is completely different than just upgrading the graphics. You can see this with the ds3 unreal engine 5 port too, it has much better graphics but lacks the same look. While the "dark souls 4 reimagined with ure5 actually has effort put into it and it keeps the dark atmosphere

Agreed, it all kinda looks too plain and pretty like a toy castle. The interiors looks pretty good but the main city vista is only proportially correct without any of the flavour that makes Anor Londo beautiful.

The relatively simple and bold adornments of the halls of Anor Londo really benefit from the gentle cascading shadows. Great work! :)
@voxarts933 Жыл бұрын
Aside from the obvious that the lighting doesn't match and the way you've set your DOF makes it feel like a miniature castle. The environment is fine but the textures of said environment assets don't match the level of detail from assuming the Quixel assets you've used. I understand that you've simply used the DS1 assets but if possible you could try to export the materials used, I assume they are all tileable, you could upscale them to let's say 2k and try to implement PO (Parallax Occlusion). It will give pretty much anything that tiles like (E.G. Bricks, Tiles, any squigly line) a very good pop under direct and indirect lighting. It will give much nicer shadows and AO (If you are using Lumen for AO*) helping it reach that quixel level detail. For a bonus you could also attempt to vertex paint grime and dust or simply use quixel decals but that is more of an artistic choice. Either way I still think you've put decent effort in, good job :).

Very nice. I would echo the sentiments already made in previous comments about the lighting and sky being accurate. Just a little nitpick of mine is the timestamps on the video. Quite funny that every single comment here seems to agree that, while this is glorious and breathtaking, Anor Londo is just not the same without the golden light of Gwyn (trust me guise, it's him, don't listen to the troublemakers and unbelievers). What this DID remind me a lot of, tho, was Talos Principle. It just had the vibe, immediately felt like God was about to tell me to stack some cubes

Dark Souls is a story of a world where the light is fading and darkness is taking over. I think the work you did is amazing but a little adjustment to lighting will help bring that Dark Souls charm. Superb work though looks like a representation of how Anor Londo would look when things were good.

Nice recreation dude! One tip from a fellow environment artist, using too much depth of field gives the scene a miniature feel. Like its a model set or something. A giant space will never have dof unless there is something like 30cm or closer to the camera:) I made this mistake plenty of times as well and learned the hard way.

I love the video, though the pyramid roofs at 0:29 look out of place with the new fidelity. Even if thats how the real architecture looks (i have no idea if it is or is not how the cathedral anor londo was based off of looks, but thats beside the point)-the knowledge that im looking at it in a video game gives it the appearance of being a graphical flaw or cut corner.
