***** This comment I found on the Steam forums sums this up perfectly: "Lag is a common word meaning to fail to keep up or to fall behind. Lag is also often used in reference to video games to describe the delay (or latency) between an action by a player and the reaction of the game. so by the definition alone.....anything that slows the game whether it be internet or not....is LAG" " "Lag" is perfectly applicable to frame rate, as in, the rendered frames are lagging behind the actions performed." So, using "laggy" in this context is definitely a "proper term for these things". If you know a word that describes low framerate in a more "proper" manner, then please let me know ;)

Maybe I'm just weird. But when I see old buildings and all the stones, bricks, and mortar in these obscure locations, I can't help but always think about the fact that those physically had to be built. I just get vivid images of people actually needing to form those bricks and stones somewhere, hauling them to these locations and physically building them brick by brick. The amount of man power and time it took to make things in older times was enormous. I dunno, whatever.

Eric Stilthool - Easy to say until you spend a very long time making something incredibly easy by these standards. Many people still look at certain ancient structures today and believe there was no humanly possible way to have built them without some grossly misunderstood method at the time. That is how hard they were. Complex enough that we still haven't discovered how they did it.
@OttoGrainer27
@OttoGrainer27 8 жыл бұрын
Eric Stilthool Yeah right, revolutionary... You know what Hertz said when asked about the ramifications of discovering radiowaves? "Nothing, I guess. [...] It's of no use whatsoever." Shows what he knew. Up until the 19th century, scientists still thought electricity and magnetism were completely separate things. Newton's gravitational theory had flaws. Einstein's alternative has flaws. Gravity doesn’t fit in with the universe’s other three fundamental forces: the electromagnetic, the weak, and the strong. To date, gravitons are still undetectable. More to the point, what the fuck has this got to do with ancient buildings? We saw the effects of waves, it adds evidence to theories. This means nothing. You don't need to quote a guardian article that has been _"corrected"_ to argue a point. I have no idea what you are trying to say, did first nation people have telekinesis? We know very little about how they cut rock so cleanly, we know even less about gravity.

I actually really respect their use of real locations. It explains why some zones do feel so human, but grand at the same time. Rather than making something so outlandish you feel taken aback they give you something real that is so grand it fits right into the rest of their world.
@pinktrash2720
@pinktrash2720 3 жыл бұрын
Their use of real locations is the first thing they would do. In design, it's called 'reference'. They'll take a lot of pictures, put it together and create a moodboard for a specific area they like to design. It would be really hard and would take a long time if you'll try to make something that's not real or inspired from reality. I work in concept design, and one of the things we would take into consideration are things that are familiar and something what we can easily identify ourselves in.

The last place is Craco Vecchia (Italy, Basilicata). It is a small village initially abandoned around the 60s and finally in 1980 after an earthquake that caused parts of the city to collapse. Today it is called "ghost town". When I first visited it a few weeks ago, as I approached I thought "Wow I'm in Dark Souls". The video does not do justice to what you find when you arrive: crows flying over abandoned and destroyed buildings, the disturbing silence of a place where other people used to live and where now everything is motionless and still in time and finally a small cemetery near the city, with its lighted candles. I felt a sense of awe and uneasiness but at the same time I felt at home. Unfortunately I did not find any bonfires

+megazion34 Real answer? A LOT of his videos are posted to Reddit and get popular there. So things like this have a normal sub-viewer ratio (About 1/2 views to subs) while others blow up on Reddit and get hundreds of thousands really quickly.

VesbaV Actually 1/2 views to subs is standard, not all subs watch all videos (not interested, non-active accounts, etc). His original comment was asking how some of his videos have literally millions of views since his sub count is under 40,000. Those ones are posted on Reddit where tons of people see them, but don't subscribe.

All vids from this channel are quality but I never really paid attention to the uploader. I've seen their vids for like a year or 2 and only subbed a few months ago when I noticed they're all the same channel; lol. That's probably why.

I've been in the Crystal Cave, also called Las Minas de Naica, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. The temperature there is above 50 C. It's practically imposible to take pictures with a conventional camera or cellphone because of the high humidity, as it fogs the lens. Currently, the mine is closed due to a flood that occurred years ago, but I remember seeing a little bench with an inscription: "the house of Superman" just before the actual selenite mine entrance. It's such a magical place that I wish I could visit once again.

I really love how well the Souls/Borne games integrate art history to inform and reinforce the lore, worldbuilding, and sometimes storytelling. If there's anything I gained from my art education, it's a deeper appreciation for the art direction choices of these games lol
