My best friend got me into Souls because of this trailer. We'd spend hours talking about it and looking up anything we could find on it. He died before Dark Souls was released. I've played every Souls game for him. Having just beaten Elden Ring, thought I'd come back to my roots.

+NinjapowerMS it's just that the post-Lordvessel part progresses in a similar manner to DeS/DkS2/BB, basically a bunch of linear not connected paths with dead ends and rely heavily on the fast-traveling mechanic.

+Rebel Raime (Fume Knight) That's true, they're separate areas, but that's what opens up the games and gives the player some agency in what to do and where to go first. You take control of things because, y'know, it's YOUR adventure. A lot of people don't like the early half because there's only really one way to go and if its too tough, you just have to muscle up. While the latter half lets you test which new areas feels the most approachable, which in turn you get stronger while doing and are better prepared for those more difficult areas you then have to revisit.

Yes, but with mods it's definitly playable on PC. I don't see any reason for a remaster of Dark Souls. The only remaster i would really look for would be a Demon's Souls remaster - on PC and PS4. But that'll never happen, since Sony has the rights, and they would be stupid to release Demon's Souls on PC.

I remember when this trailer came out and I was super excited as I had just purchased Demon's Souls during the fall of 2010. I was amazed at the time seeing how epic it looked, and it gives me a lot of nostalgia five years later. Little did I know how huge the series would become. Currently loving Dark Souls 3!

Invaders can invade 10%(of their level)+10 downwards and infinitely up with any eye orb or cracked eye orb. Summon signs are 10%(of their level)+10 levels up and down.

In my opinion Dark Souls was the best game of 2011. Although I haven't even beaten it yet, but so far I have had so much fun and it's one of the best rpg's I have played in a while. Whenever I finally get past a part I have been stuck on I really feel accomplished, something no other game has done for me. It's not hard in the sense that their just throwing a ton of overpowered enemies at you, it's hard in the sense that you keep dying over and over until you figure out how to do it

@ilorvygjm nope. the Sega Dreamcast came out with Dreameye, well before the Eyetoy came in. the Dreamcast introduced dual memory card slotted controller, VMUs before the PocketStation, the first console with a built in modem, attachment for a voice recognition accessory, and the first console capable of playing discs beyond the capacity of a CD called GD-ROM.

@Drakedog777 They can release games of the same size as the PS3's, on the Xbox by using multiple discs (which i think they did with their version of Mass Effect 2), so hopefully the game's going multiplatform won't compromise it's quality. It'll probably be developed with the PS3 mostly in mind, anyway, having been PS3 exclusive. Interestingly, according to IGN it's only going multiplatform in Europe and the US, while staying PS3 only in Japan.

Most action RPG trailers looked the same back then, all cool scenes and "gorgeous views ahead". After the release, it was immediately obvious if the game was up to the hype or if it was just a shallow bluff.

No, I believe all they said was that they would make the beginning of the game a little more accessible. You seem to think that that means making the whole game easier. Also, to be honest, Dark Souls story was just your character going to kill Gwyn. What I(and everyone else who played it) really love about the game is the lore associated with it. It's truly amazing and what makes it so good is the fact that you have to find it, discover it, read about it. I welcome the new adventure.

@ilorvygjm there are a 100 games per page on Metacritic. by the time i got to the 3rd page on the highest rated PS2 list, it already started listening games that got a 75 or lower, that's at least 250 games that scored a 75 (which is a green lit score) or higher including multi-platform and re-releases. that's meant there's still 1250 games that have scored a 74 and below and this doesn't even include games that are strictly only in Europe or Japan.

@carvanmooseman Agreed ! Both systems have their perks and disadvantages and if you want to avoid it, you have to own both of them. The reason I choose ps3 was becasue I was into blu ray movies. HOwever, when Mass Effect 2 originally came out, I really was dissapointed that it was a xbox360 ex at the time. What also ridicolous is the graphics debate, honestly I watched the comparisons and the differences are really hard to make out if only slight.

The game that started it all. Dark Souls was a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls and the developers from FromSoftware deserve huge applauses from other gaming studios and gamers alike. FromSoftware put in a lot work to make Dark Souls be such an phenomenal game.

I think Zelda has really high quality gameplay like Demons Souls. It's just more on the gentle side in terms of difficulty. I like challenging games, but I'm glad developers making easy games too. Got to have versatility to be a true gamer. Demons Souls and Mass Effect are completely different games, but I love them just the same.
