Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on DS3. After your blind playthrough on the Japanese version I hadn't heard you discuss it much.

I have a few playlists that further expand on my thoughts at the time. The Dark Souls 3 PVP one specifically covers lots of the early thoughts

21:55 yes that's well put, a cauldron of happy accidents 😊 I guess that's why people are dissing DS3 (as we even did back then) because it was entirely different in that regard. "It has no soul" is the word that got passed around a lot, but that just means the way you said it here. We never got DS1 again.
@TheSeraphim172 ай бұрын
We definitely gave it shit back then and it deserved some. I just don't like the revisionist nature of people turning on a good game

@@TheSeraphim17 yes it's a hard un. I for one have many fond memories of vanilla DS2 and it's dlc for instance and while it objectively had issues, subjectively I don't like how this game gets battered online. And then Bloodborne came around omg.... I allways thought that's where they peaked but it could also be that after so many playthroughs of that game I got burned out on the formula but the time DS3 rolled around, and it's mostly been a nostalgia hit since? I liked it, but I didn't love it. Fastforward a few years and I just hated elden ring within mere hours, and that could very well be because I wasn't open anymore to the new questions this game was asking (something DS3 did very well I must admit). It wasn't untill Lies of P I felt I finally had an honest souls game on my hands again. Very similar to what the older games were expecting of us, I love it.

There's a certain Canadian player who was arguably the best pvper in Dark Souls 3 (duels and invasions both) he has a lot of anti-gank footage that's played beautifully. Ring/armor swaps, weapon swaps for different ash of war depending on the situation, etc.

I see ds1 i click. What do u think of the popular videos the kast year or so of people doing challenge runs of ds and other fromsoft games with specific weapons or weird silly stipulations? Im sure its something thats been happening since release but i feel like theyve gotten really popular lately and i love anything that gets people to play or talk about ds1. Its also cool seeing people using really weird weapons you dont see and having to have deep understandings of mechanics that usually are never used

Lobos was doing that over a decade ago, as was ENB and Vegeta. Trends come and go. You either bite or you go your own way.

I found out Dks3 wasnt for me when the lone hosts I did find, very rarely mind you and also hosts in fight clubs had 50% more hp than you because of embers. It was embarrassing, really.
