Dark Souls (1) isn't at the end of it's life cycle. People will always keep playing it and finding new ways to make it interesting or return to play it after a break, just like people still play Demon's Souls.

I know this is 6 years old and the last comment was a year ago, I wanted to address that you can very easily do this exact same run on a 360 version (not sure about PS3) using the save editor. It may not be relevant anymore, but I wanted to comment. Hope you are well vageta.

For anyone having any Issues with cheat engine changing your NG+ status: In steam, right click your dark souls prepare... and click propeties. Go to the right-most tab and opt in for the "steam build 2.0" That will allow the table compilation, made by TechnoJacker, found here ( drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_f11g1DlLhDV1RfV0VSdnBfOVE ) to work properly for it's ng+ changer found via *Misc stuff ---> *NG Plus Status If that doesn't work I'd be happy to send you my file of it if you have any issues.

As a side note. Once you change your ng+ value and save/quit. You can change your game version back to opting out of betas and the ng+ on the character should stay.

Madgoblin n Yeah, I think it was stupid tanking through everything, but you shouldn't die to a pot hollow (bad example since you can roll away but whatever) stunlocking you when you have 99 in each stat and endgame gear all reinforced to the maximum.

Amazing, the other week I also had the idea of doing an NG+7 from SL1 (but levelling normally), and I stopped after an hour or so due to being too hard for me. That will be very very interesting, thanks for this new series!

Yay! I'll watch anything you put up. My favorite challenge runs are the ones that require thought and planning. For example, one that appeals to me is, you can't use any equipment for more than one boss. Formal rules: 1) after defeating a boss you must drop everything you have equipped (armor, weapons, rings). 2) You can't unequip things except to drop them for rule 1. 3) Must defeat all bosses.

It's definitely true. Dark Souls looks it's best on PC when you use higher resolutions. It can even run at 60fps though youtube won't display that high of a framerate.

NG+ 7 with starter equipment is straining your skills to the utmost. At least you can manage as you still have your experience with Dark Souls. I just need to beat the Four Kings, collect the lord soul fragment and enter the Kiln of the First Flame to complete my 1st playthrough. I also want to thank you for the parrying tutorial, it really helped me out.

The topic of artificial difficulty was addressed in Bloodborn. When you had 15+ insight or played it on NG+. Many monsters got an additional attack thrown into the mix of thier usual attacks. It can be a suprise as these attacks are generally very quick and deal significant damage.

Really enjoyed the commentary regarding the nature of challenge runs and difficulty in the game. I do hope that in DSII they implement something beyond stat boosts for NG+ cycles. New attack patterns, smarter AI, random loot/enemies, black phantoms and giving basic enemies status effects like bleed or poison would all make for a much more interesting experience. And my vote's for either O&S or the Sanctuary Guardians, although I guess you could consider Manus more of a fitting finale boss.

I actually agree with you there. On the upcoming vids I will probably take out at least one type of enemy in every area just to show how much work is involved at this level of difficulty. If I killed every single one it would take forever, but at least a few here and there would be good enough I think.

I said that on a whim but I could be wrong. I could be getting it mixed up with the maneaters, but i was almost positive that even if you don't damage the first gargoyle the 2nd will show up anyways after a set amount of time. Basically he shows up when the first gets to half health, or when a certain amount of time has elapsed. Whichever comes first.

I started this challenge when I got bored of Dark Souls because it seemed easy and... it gave me the thrill of the fight back. This is awesome challenge and everyone should try it. (Though I think it's almost impossible to finish the whole game, just try a few bosses) :) Good luck

O&S as a final boss for this series. Definitely. They are the quintessential Dark Souls boss fight, and like you said because there are two foes it doesn't turn into the same old pattern-memorization shtick. O&S keep it fresh and difficult every time.

This is amazing, I'm rewatching this mini-series of yours. I did a base level challenge run with a Bandit and found it very challenging at times (i.e. the Four Kings ^^) and it ended up being the best time I'd had playing Dark Souls ever. In any case, I'm downright in awe watching you play. Will we see more of you in the future?
