love the improvements but characters boards are a step backwards imo.. I prefer the old ones and will use those the stat punchouts on the new ones keep falling out during storage and goodluck trying to figure out where they go during every setup.

Great change with the campaign board and throwing both types of dice. Looking forward to trying this out soon

The SFG website says this is “backwards compatible” with the original DS board game. What exactly is compatible? It seems like the encounter cards are different so is it just the characters that can be swapped in and out? How will/can OG enemies be used? Are the prior equipment cards compatible? Etc… I would be nice to see something on this for the existing original backers to see if this is worth adding to our collections.

Background: I have every expansion of the first edition (including all the OG kickstarter ones), and I currently have both the new sets on order. In all the research I've done it seems like most everything is backwards compatible minus the campaign mode. It requires new cards and they are supposed to release a compatibility set next year for campaigns on all the original stuff. That being said, it seems you can plug in all the new enemies and bosses and play with the old stuff as well, the way you currently setup your games.

@@danieltolliver3444 That's the thing... we'll have to buy this new compatibility set? Hopefully it is not expensive. Like you, I have every expansion and I have the 2 new sets. Some of the new rules sure are better. We've been using house/custom rules from the subredit since almost the beginning of the release.

Will these sets be comming to Spain or any other european country and also just of curiosity do you have plans on restocking the old one Dark Souls the Board Game and if so when ? I really like the idea and new mecanics in these core sets thou but just was thinking what could I buy and what not.

Eh seeing the game play with the 2.0 style it looks like its the card game and a lot less like a.board game. Part of the charm of the 1.0 was having a big buult up dingeon in front of you and feeling like the game.

I like the OG rules better will not be buying this, especially at the price point. The real turn off is using sparks to spend souls, the whole fun of this game was getting items, now you are slowing this down? OG played like the video game now this seems just like a dungeon crawl.

After a few playthroughs, I think steamforges missed a huge opportunity with this! The new rules for stamina recovery, health and extra movement make the game too easy to be enjoyed. I can't believe that with the great amount of house rules which are present online that could have easily be copied into the new rulebook, they managed to make an enjoyable game (with it's evident flaws, don't get me wrong) NOT enjoyable by taking away the challenge. Next time, please, just stick with adding new expansion bosses!
